(drum roll) AND THE WINNER IS (fumbles with envelope) .......

Norman Verona

Recommended Posts

The prize, as stated, is 2,500,000 - but what?

Well, I'm very surprised no one thought of it - it's pretty obvious when you really consider it. I'm the MemSec and have a small amount of ability to control things backstage, but what do I deal in primarily? Memberships of course, but how long do they last? A year. So I deal primarily in money (membership fees) and time.

So filfan my friend, out of my own pocket, I am paying to award you....

2,500,000 FREE SECONDS OF WSCC MEMBERSHIP!

That works out to...

28 days, 22 hours, 26 minutes and 40 seconds of free WSCC Membership, at the stunning retail value, and paid for by me, of £2.18!

I'll add this exact amount to your membership this afternoon! Congratulations! :t-up:

And commiserations to everyone else who took part, particularly Norman, who missed it by less than two hours - he just mistimed all that extra posting.

Thanks for playing everyone - see you in another 1,000,000 posts...or maybe sooner - that's 1,000,000 actual posts, but there's less than 900,000 valid (non-deleted) posts in the system. Another game is sooner than you think! :)

I did some sophisticated calculations on the averages over various periods (about 10 periods over about the last 3 years.

At the time I did these calcs it showed the 1 millionth post would occur on 30/11/2012 at 19:10, or thereabouts. I then deducted two days on the basis that as we got close there would be a posting frenzy. At no time until last night and today did I stop my normal rubbish postings. Other, than, of course when a gale blew down our telegraph pole and ripped the phone cable apart. The whole village of Armialle, ourselves and the farm next to us were put back 30 years and had no internet for 3 days. Anyway, it's not possible to manipulate the post count as there are far too many variables.

Congratulations to Filfan, a well deserved win.

my guess was along those lines

i took the last weeks daily average. devided the remaining posts required by the average and also took 2 days off for sillyness. then picked a random time. then forgot what i had guessed lol

if i had not took a chainsaw to your telephone line though it would never have worked

I've posted all the guesses (from the day before MS hid them) on the countdown thread.
