Paul M Posted June 3, 2002 Posted June 3, 2002 James, my post was not intended as a personal criticism of your car or Ginetta as a marque, there was no information on the display when I looked round, my main gripe is that a company such as Ginetta that has been in this business for over 30 years should be able to do more than turn up with 1 car of their own. I still have a few rants about the show, I was quite looking forward to the "discovery/Channel 5" feature stand as advertised in the press, this turned out to be a Van with "A race car is born" written on the side, the "E" type that Mark Evans supopoosedly rebuilt ( I noticed a plaque in the engine bay saying it was rebuilt & restored by a firm of Jaguar specialists) and a pile of videos for sale, no other written information or anyone maning the stands to discuss anthing. This realy was a joke of a stand. Anyone know why 90 % of the Robin Hood's on the owners club stand had full weather gear up on Sunday when there was no sign of rain ? Quote
Steve Kirk Posted June 3, 2002 Posted June 3, 2002 What a waste of tyre rubber.I've seen better displays of kit cars in Tesco's car park. Quote
neo Posted June 3, 2002 Posted June 3, 2002 pritty disapointing show all round i thought, more than likely down to the weather, football, juballee, and bank holiday weekend. Quote
Westfields Rock On Posted June 3, 2002 Posted June 3, 2002 I do believe we had the best looking stand there, probably due to the formation of the cars and the way all the cars looked. T'was nice t'see sum t'other westies tho'. few pics on my ****ey website here I was tryin to take some good photos but that fella in the black hat kept getting in the way. Quote
james grayley Posted June 3, 2002 Posted June 3, 2002 just re-read my post and it does come accross a little agressive which it wasn't meant to... in fact i do agree with your points paul, generally it was a poor show and speaking to a couple of manufacturers it seems unlikely that the show will be able to continue in that format next year... is that the end of harrogate? and that jag..... u r right! i saw the restoration plaque too.... did any know how much they were asking for it? i heard rumours they wanted 35k Quote
Blatman Posted June 3, 2002 Posted June 3, 2002 35K is a bargain, considering they spent around 80K on the restoration Quote
Mark Stanton Posted June 4, 2002 Posted June 4, 2002 Shows - It all looks a bit sad - sounds as if most of the Kit Car shows are dieing on their Donington at the back end of last year and Stafford didn't receive very many good reports. Stoneleigh although a good turn-out and perhaps the biggest has been better in past years, now Harrogate Is it the weather Football or just that they're a bit long in the tooth and need fresh impetous Quote
