Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
Nothing wrong with carbon wrap, and a nice set of neons will really show it off a treat.
Mike H
it's fake so why bother?

Dibby
I think my thighs are too fat to get away with carbon wrap. Maybe I could get away with a jegging style or a wet look rubber vacuum fit. Don't like it, don't even like the green and yellow colour of my Westie because it's not a Lotus and unless carbon is genuine it looks naff. But then who am I to tell people what to do with their cars? You want Viper stripes, flamethrower exhaust, spinner alloys and neon underlighters on a Westfield? I don't care, people like Mansory make a fortune out of people with dubious modifying tastes
Captain Colonial
If you all go back to the OP, you''l notice I didn't say it was good or bad - just ironic (illusion of lightness through added weight of wrapping). Not for me to judge correctness, but I can find it ironic. But by all means, do keep arguing, Dr Gadgetman's Snack Food Emporium thanks you and so does my bank account. Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
I think it's about time half timbering came back in to fashion; after all we've got the Min Traveler (of sorts) again! Mmm, and vinyl roofs.

Not for me to judge correctness, but I can find it ironic. I guess it depends on the reasons for doing it , if its for decoration due to then I would see no irony in it , if it was to pretend the car was lighter than it was , then it is just sad really , and maybe a touch ironic
echoz
Spose it's better than carpet
lloydox
just to put my 2 pence worth in i'm going to be using the 3M carbon wrap stuff on the ally panels on my build the reason I'm doing it is because i don't like the way the ally look's after a few years when it's oxidised i was going to get them powder coated or painted but this add's about the same weight if not more than the vinyl reason i'm going for the carbon is because i'm fitting tillett carbon seat's so it's all going to match just wondering is the problem that it's adding weight or because it look's like something it's not? ps will been going real carbon when fund allow
Darrell O'Neill
I have some 3m wrap on my car, namely the tunnel top and over the ali infront of the scuttle in the engine bay, I also intend on doing the tunnel sides and possibily the rear panel bulkhead at some point. Why? Well several reasons, 1. I cant warrant the cost of real carbon when there is so much else it can be spent on on things that'll make me go faster than losing the weight of an apple. 2. I can't be arsed to spend the time and effort getting a perfect black paint finish to the ali. Infact I would be suprised if a painted finish to ali would be as tough as the 3m and still look as good as my tunnel top after 3 yrs. 3. Until i get so anal i cut off all the excess thread on every bolt, avoid the the burger van and take a big dump and pi$$ before driving my car, I aint going to worry about the weight of abit of vinyl that weighs less than a glug of spring water. I have real carbon boot panel, dash and aeroscreen and to be honest the small amount of di-noc does'nt look that bad.
lloydox
exactly . if i had an unlimited budget it would use as much carbon as i could but if i had an unlimited budget i would have built an f1 but i've not so i want the inside of the car to look better than bare ally and stick to a race look of the seats . Im also painting the bodywork cause i want it a colour that westfield don't do be that's gonna add a bit more weight as well
adamnreeves
I used it on my interior and it has added lightness because it replaced carpet and metres of velcro. I have real carbon fibre seats, dash, boot lid, mirrors, flared sides so it matches.
rocket_rabbit
I have to agree with above. I bought a cheap generic aeroscreen in fibreglass that looked a bit crap It has now been covered in CF wrap and looks quite good. Net weight saved over the winscreen it replaces is high. Same for interior. Carpets have been removed and I am painting most and CF wrapping the tunnel top so it matches the dash. I am also going to wrap the rear arches in it so they match the front real carbon versions, carbon diffuser, and carbon nose. Should help with stone chip resistance too. So yes, I have added maybe 200g of weight total and lost about 15kg. I'm happy with that.
Cleggy the Spyder Man
ahh but has anyone wrapped real carbon fibre in the 3M stuff :-)
Dibby
just wondering is the problem that it's adding weight or because it look's like something it's not? To me, it's trying to be something it's not, like sticking a bit '7' badge on the nosecone of a Westfield or a 'Turbo' sticker on the back of a family Mondeo. Don't like fake lifestyles, women with fake hair, false nails, overly whitened teeth, giant fake norks are alright to look at but I wouldnt want them on my wife. Gadgetman's half-timbering, now there's an idea! Westfield station wagon!
