Matta Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Hi all, I forgot to mention this at the meeting last Sunday for this year's calendar. My car had a rolling road session at SiTech Racing in Rosyth at the end of last year and I was really pleased with the outcome. Simon Smail (the owner) is ex-F1 & BTCC amongst other things, really knows his stuff and is an enthusiast through and through. He's also building an engine for Alastair's new project at the moment. Simon said they are happy to organise 'dyno days' for clubs - health checks, power runs etc. BBQ and tea urn also available. Anyway, if a number of folks would be interested in this, I'm happy to coordinate with Simon, check prices and see if we can find a suitable date in Wee Dov's calendar. Let me know if you are interested. Cheers, Matt Quote
GreigM Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 I'd be interested, do you know if he can work with PowerCommanders - its difficult finding a place that can deal with a bike engine with 4 wheels attached! Quote
Matta Posted January 25, 2012 Author Posted January 25, 2012 I'll check Greig. He seems to be set up to do most ECU's. Once I get an idea of numbers, I'll get a note of everyone's engine/ECU setup and make sure he can cover them. Matt Quote
Rab (bombero) Reid Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Me too, me too .. always good to get a second opinion Quote
frag68 Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Me too, but need to get the other cylinder head rebuilt and fitted first, as well as the new exhaust. Even at present I would be happy as the car's ignition is way out as I fitted the distributor myself when i fitted the new engine and its not clever. Fraser Quote
Doug Dastardly Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 How many miles should I do to run an engine in before reving the t**s off it on a dyno? Quote
Jumpy07 Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 I am up for that Matt.. didnt know they had a Dyno Craig Quote
GreigM Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 How many miles should I do to run an engine in before reving the t**s off it on a dyno? Is it a brand new engine? Really depends on the manufacturers specification - but if it was mine I'd have at least 500 miles on a new engine before doing a dyno session - although dynos aren't as hard on cars as being out on the road as there's no g-forces. Doug Dastardly Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 By the time you've driven down, it would be run in Very funny Matt It's a new zetec, but I need to walk before I run i.e. finish building it first Quote
Rab (bombero) Reid Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Very funny Matt It's a new zetec, but I need to walk before I run i.e. finish building it first Well, stop wasting your time on here and get busy @Matt, a dyno day some time late March or early April would set us up nicely for 2012 blatting! Matta Posted January 27, 2012 Author Posted January 27, 2012 Folks - can those of you who have expressed an interest in this give me your engine spec & ECU details (if you have one - an ECU that is, not an engine!). I'll then speak to SiTech and make sure they can accomodate everyone's cars before looking at dates. So far (from memory) I have: GreigM - Megabusa/Powercommander Bombero - Zetec/Emerald? Nicks100 - ? Frag68 - Pinto/? Jumpy - ST170/? Doug D - Zetec/? MattA - Duratec / Omex600 Cheers, Matt Quote
kev91 Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 I might me interested in this, don't know what can be done with mine O/T does anybody know a good place to have my geometry done? Quote
GreigM Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 I might me interested in this, don't know what can be done with mine:laugh: O/T does anybody know a good place to have my geometry done? If you have the time/inclination I'd strongly recommend heading down to Playskool which are just south of Newcastle - they did mine and transformed the car, and can do it in a few hours at a very very reasonable rate.....it really helps that they know what they are doing with westies as its not like you can really look up a book to get the settings.
