Mark (smokey mow) Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 What up with the car Mark? Beautification I've bonded on some big head fasteners to new front arches tonight with sikaflex, but I still need to get a couple of layers of fibreglass on there too. Quote
KugaWestie Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Ah ok I can recommend undersealing in the dining room Quote
Pistol Pete Posted April 27, 2012 Author Posted April 27, 2012 Matt, looks like it might just be me and thee, can meet up at the brook street roundabout or I will be heading over the army & navy roundabout on the way. Quote

Where did you get the big head fasteners Mark? New cycle wings are on my very long list of things to buy! Also... Which Cycle wings did you get (i.e. Westfield direct or somewhere else)? Cheers Quote

Cheers The fasteners i got from east coast fibreglass supplieshttp://www.ecfibreglasssupplies.co.uk/c-924-big-head-bonding-fasteners.aspx The wings are standard westfield ones direct from them as i wanted to match the colour and what was tere before. I'd bolted on my old ones and the gel coat had started to crack around the fixings, i then suceeded in damaging one after i accidently pushed the car into my tintop so it was about time to replace them Quote
kevip6 Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Thanks for the link. I have a similar problem with my cycle wings, the mounting bolts have caused cracks to spread out from the bolts head. I'm ok with it at the moment ( not least because the rear arch is currently far more damaged) but will look to sorting it out and fixing new ones via big heads at some point. cheers again Quote
Matt F Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 my number is 07706 919579. I will be leaving from Great Baddow so happy to meet the Sandon park and ride if you are driving past that. What time are you planning on leaving? Quote

Pistol Pete Posted April 29, 2012 Author Posted April 29, 2012 Matt, Me and my boys had a good day at Brands today. It was wet in the morning (actually it pissd down), so initial we watched from the comfort of the cars on the South Bank, then Matt braved it and headed off to meet up with his mate racing in Formula V. Following a text from Matt (cheers) we ventured out after lunch and join Matt in one of the hospitality boxes over looking the start line. I must say in all my visits to Brands this was a first for me and was very much appreciated - Thanks. What with the wet track, the racing was very exciting with the highlight being the BMW compacts - man they look fun. Also managed to meet up with Paul who was racing his Westfield in the sportcar race, he was pleased with his wet pace so was probably a bit upset to have the sun poking through and a dry track for his race. Bring on the drier weather. Quote
Mark (smokey mow) Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 glad it didn't turn out too bad for you all in the end Quote
Pistol Pete Posted April 29, 2012 Author Posted April 29, 2012 I guess I should mention that while walking around to the grandstands, we were passing the Hailwood centre and I was making a decision on whether to walk on the grass or the through the puddles on the road way. Just about to warn my boys that it will be v.slippery under foot - when one of us, yep the 6 foot lump one goes crashing to the ground! Quote
Matt F Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 A good day out in the end, a good bit of action in the morning in the wet (never seen the recovery trucks that busy!) and then seeing how things chance as the track dried out. Looking even more now to getting a track day booked there soon..... I think they are there again in September and will probably go again Shame you told them about your slippage, i was looking forward to spilling the beans, just a shame I wasn't there to see it! Quote
kevip6 Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 I bet it was very interesting in that heavy rain in the morning! Any photos taken?? Quote
8pots Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 I was there as well. Had a great weekend all told, friday and saturday in London with wife and friends, Brands Saturday to watch racing and Combe monday for a track day. I wanted to go to Brands for 2 reasons. Firstly, we have just agreed a sponsorship deal with BMW Compact Cup and I wanted to explore the place in preparation for our track evening there in June. The Compacts did look great fun and can be built for £5k...seriously tempted to have a go!! Mike Quote
