8pots Posted January 13, 2012 Author Posted January 13, 2012 Trying an airbox set up. Previously it was running a standard V8 bonnet with sausage filters sticking through. I always struggled with noise in the car so after an incident at Anglesey where my nose cone fell off and I drove over it and then the bonnet flying off at high speed. I got hold of a modified bonnet and nose cone from John Eales which allowed the induction to be in side the bonnet. I used the original ITG filters which went under...just. I did notice however that at high speeds in 6th it was slightly reluctant to rev out to the limiter. At Donington it will do this about 2/3rds of the way down the back straight which with the current final drive is around 140mph. I reckon this set up will help to get plenty of air to the throttle bodies which will also be cooler. We have also sealed around the radiator better and slightly re-positioned the oil cooler. Experimental, but will be interesting to see how it works. This also shows a mock up of the modification to my cage as I wanted a full cage with side bars. The top edge of the ally box is the same profile as the inside of the bonnet. We will put some sort of window seal onto the top edge which will seal to the inside of the bonnet, therefore creating the biggest possible volume without lifting the already high bonnet. Top of ram pipes to inner face of bonnet is about 3 to 4" so hopefully enough height. Quote

8pots Posted April 19, 2012 Author Posted April 19, 2012 Found some more old pictures of the Westie. Current progress is a bit slow... not too concerned as weather not ideal. Just needs roll cage finishing and some exhausts. From 5 or so years ago.... Quote
