Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 The solid mount engine/gearbox set up looks like it could get interesting Quote
Paul Aspden Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 I recall seeing this car at Harewood Hillclimb many moons ago, not long after the factory had campaigned there V8 (Now the Nobby Clark Ian Stinton car), must have been the early 90's. Lots of very very nice bits, will make a fun car! Hope we'll see it at speed series events, looks like it would be very competative. A must will be the Blyton Park Event in July, it would be good to have this car and Kurts' beast out together, maybe we could even persaud Ian & Neil to bring out their V8? Quote
8pots Posted January 10, 2012 Author Posted January 10, 2012 (edited) I have never competed in it before despite owning it for all these years. Not sure how I would do particularly against some serious cars with good drivers. Few more pictures... Edited January 10, 2012 by 8pots Quote
8pots Posted January 11, 2012 Author Posted January 11, 2012 Couple more... Amazingly even after 20 years, the chassis was still spot on. No cracks and when it was sandblasted all the welds still looked like new. They put it on a granite table to check it was all still straight and all good!! I have used it on the road over the last 15 years, albeit nothing like as much recently..just taking son to school occasionally or running it prior to a trackday to make sure everything seems OK. It does not like bumpy roads and you have to be careful about the rose joints, as these have failed in the past. These were uprated to NWB ones, which although very expensive seem extremely strong. With the rebuild, I have had new JK Composite seats, which I am very pleased with. They did them a custom size as although mine is wide bodied, the transmission tunnel is wide so it is a tight squeeze in there. They also did a different fitting method on the back of the seat, the same as my original seats. Theu for well and are comfortable. Would certainly recommend JK. Incidentally, there is a car being built at Motorsport Components which is a Chevron GR8 with a Ferrari 360 engine in!! I will post some pictures up...it is awesome! He saw my seats then had JK make some similar with more shoulder support and full carbon. They are awesome...I am a little envious! They are also making him a bespoke rear tub for the Chevron in full carbon...certainly got me thinking!! This picture tells a good story as to the history of the car. If you look at the fuel tank, it has had about 3 extra bits welded on to increase capacity for road and track use. Quote
Paul Aspden Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 From the video at Teeside, you can obviously drive the car, so why not do the Blyton Park trackday, it's on the friday before the sprint event, you never know we may be able to persuad you into sprinting.... Quote
8pots Posted January 11, 2012 Author Posted January 11, 2012 I,m doing 4 trackdays myself at Blyton this year!! Problem is, everyone knows the spec of my car now and what it should be able to do. Delivering the speed is another matter entirely! At Teesside, Keith was giving me some serious hassle in his Pinto Westy towards the end of the day. Quote
Johnson Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Nice rebuild, interesting hub set up on the back end. Probably take a while but what's the full spec? I won't ask what you have spent Quote
