fatbaldbloke Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Well, I've just watched it for the second time on the BBC iPlayer and I think it's better than I originally thought (which was ok, anyway). There are more driving bits than I recall and quite a lot of subtle humour that I first missed. Yep, not necessarily the best they've ever done (and that itself would divide opinion!) but defo better than reality TV and more bl00dy cooking shows. Quote
oldman Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 was a sack of s***e as usual its all scripted and staged but trouble is none of them can act to pull it off , stuff like wasnt it a stroke of luck that when the stuff fell off the mini roof that the camera man was on the other side of the road to film it, the banners on the train saw that coming soon as they put them up , trouble is when you see stuff like that it takes away any credibilty when they do car reviews. im with with the grumpy old gits Well I thought banners on't train wos best bit .As for the rest all I noticed wos a load of curious locals being shunted about Quote
Guest Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 watch top gear USA ... a far far better version of the "entertainiment" that TG has become , sometimes its even informative to , the first couple of series of top gear australia were equally good ,if not for the fact they had charlie cox on , but the aussies arn't so hung up on swearing on TV . smorse Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 ive driven in sri lanka & the driving is just well... completely bonkers as could be seen, tuk tuks driving on the wrong side of the road, MOT failures everywhere, no traffic lights, no street lighting, 5 up on a scooter, feral dogs lining the edge of the road & the odd cow in the middle .........i can just imagine the health & safety brigade cringing in their little perfect worlds watching this.....lol Quote
echoz Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Everyone's a critic Enjoyed it as always. Interesting point regarding all the exotic machinery turning up at the party, made me cringe seeing all that when in other parts of the film you can see the squalor Thought the Straight 6 cricket bit was very nice as well Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 'fraid that was a VERY toned down, sanitised version of the squalor too. (not a criticism of the program, there's a time and place for the harsh truth about India and places like it, and TG certainly wasn't the best forum for it. Thats the first time I've actually fancied having a go at cricket! Quote
smorse Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 i was shocked by the squalor in sri lanka to Quote
echoz Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Gadgetman, do re-call this subject being discussed before on here shame they can't sanitise the smug richness, after about 2 minutes of seeing all these cars appear on screen, in massive queues, i did exclaim rather loudly in disapproval. Still, those lads playing cricket, despite their lack of a Ferrari, will have lived a much more fulfilled life, at least in my understanding of fulfilment, a picture paints a 1000 words, was very heart warming to see the smiles on all involved, including JC, RH and JM. You can't script somethings ETA: There ain't owt wrong with cricket proper sport for men that Quote
SteveD Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 errr can we have some facts here , cricket is in no way a sport ,how can standing around rubbing your b*****k be a sport , it involves a 2 second run up followed by hours of standing around ,also how can a sport involve wearing jumpers ,it is not a sport and it makes me laugh how you can get a injury playing if you can call it playing it ,how the dangler can you get injured by standing around goodness me ,get a life Quote
