Sunny about 8deg C and a biting wind. Think its only going to get worse. This will be the first year for a long time I am not going to go to the Exeter kit car show. I must be getting soft.  :0

Just for the record, the cheapest way to do this is to get the pump off a mk2 golf GTi or any L-jet vehicle of the Era. About a tenner from scrappies, or about 50 new. this is a plastic tank and high pressure pump all in one. Slight pain to find space for on an IRS car (mines currently in the engine bay, but has all the right connections.

Thanks  folks, the GTI pump seems a very cheap option, any pics Bill?. Blatts I only asked if you read books knowing it would stir a comical answer. (result) Seeing you know about these things where and what injecters do I use,? again thanks for all the input on this, yours thankfully Ray :durr:  :durr:  :p  :D

Injectors from any fuel injected Vx XE engine. They're cream in colour.......

I believe SteveD can supply them new for decent money. Do a member search (or drop down to the Sprinting/Hillclimbing/Racing forum), and drop him a PM/e-mail......

Just to back up what Bill has said - I've been talking to a few VW mates, they've said it's actually the K-jet system and the pump has about a 1litre reservoir. The Mk2 Golf GTI 8v had a 3bar pump, and the 16v had a 4bar one. There is an 8v pump for sale on ebay at the moment, and here is a pic.

I've got a couple of sets of these spare, ultrasonically cleaned and not very much money. Give me a tug if you need them ;)

Yup that's the pump. I always get K and L jet mixed up, so must check my notes.

I've been involved in VW GTIs for a number of years. Best place to get a fuel pump is either German, Swedish and French or Euro Car Parts - they have branches around the country and do mail order.

Also make sure that the Mk 2 Golf GTI is an relatively early one with K-Jet - later cars ran Digifant fuel injection systems. The easiest way to tell is to look under the bonnet - if there are braided stainless steel fuel hoses running to the injectors it's a K-Jet car.
