SteveD Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 I've just had a 421 manifold and system made by JC Weldfab, Wellingborough. Back box is serviceable and looks and sounds amazing. Also car went back on rolling road after and system gave 25% more torque throughout. Ask for John. Steve Ps its not the one on my pic....that all fell off! 25% more torque ,are you sure ,thats a lot of torques <!--emo& Sorry my mistake 23% more between 3000 - 5000 The Print out says EngTrq (Max = 160.7) Can't comment on the condition of the old one, the old system was a 4 into 1 also. It's a pinto if that makes any difference. It's a really nice job though. I love all your sarcasm! was it re jetted or remapped on the rolling road after the exhaust was fitted steve Yep, Was done at Northampton motor sport, Troy changed the jets, I don't know what that means, but he said it made a big difference. I think he said they were 2 sizes up. It runs really well now. Just need to get better at driving it! so it was not just the exhaust then that improved things , rejetting was a big part ,nice though when you get good results Quote
Stevemarsh Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 so basically the car in general was better setup, hence the torque/power increase.. either way, thumbs up for troy! Yeah, the original exhaust system wasn't great, Troy recommended JC Weldfab to me, they did a system for another of his cars and he said that one got an extra 20bhp from the new system too. Quote

Torqueman Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Hi all, just thought id ask who you all recommend for an exhaust. Im aware of simpsons, and have spoken to them-pretty sure theyre one of the best, but $$$$ may be an issue. btb (i think theyre called) i spoke to but were a bit more than simpsons! i did speak to a guy at tony law, but he seemed to think that they wouldnt be the best at something like that, as they only weld piece by piece and dont bend anything-? (would appreciate your thoughts on that) who else is there to try? I really want a silencer with an inbuilt cat-understand that I might have to get that from someone like simpsons tho (£725!) cheers Cant you have the cat before the muffler like this? Quote
Speed Freak Posted December 18, 2011 Author Posted December 18, 2011 yeh I could, yours looks good... but I see youve got some funky a** manifold going on there! is that because you dont have the room to go straight out and get cat/silencer in? Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 The manifold is to feed the (out of shot) turbo. Am I seeing things though, or have you got a "shaped" silencer? Never seen that done before on a seven style car, interesting idea. Quote

Speed Freak Posted December 18, 2011 Author Posted December 18, 2011 torqueman is this your car? i like the exhaust tbh-was the manifold made somewhere different to the can/cat? Quote

Not sure where it's from, as Steve said, not a UK car; but the general style of it looks relatively common for the Vauxhall C20LET/turbo'd C20XE, so I'm guessing it's used a lot for other turbo four pot engines. (IIRC, isn't this one a Saab?) Quote

Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Ah, cool, makes more sense to my befuddled brain now. It's a bit nippy working outside today, extra slow of thought till I get back in and warmed up again. Still, new crash pad on car and tonneau back fitted once more, in case the wind gets under the cars cover again. Quote
Geoff101 Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Exhausts by Design Dave Andrews from DVA Power reccomends these people EBD (Graham) made the exhaust for my Ginetta and did a good job. Never had it dyno'd but was nicely finished and lasted whilst I had the car. Just up the road from me so my decision was based largely on convenience. Quote
perksy Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Didn't Micks S2000 engined Westy use a Tony Law exhaust Sure i've got a couple of photos of it somewhere Quote
