JeffC Posted October 5, 2011 Author Posted October 5, 2011 As opposed to Dead Mail, yes. thought it might be one of those chat things the kids go on Quote
Captain Colonial Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 As opposed to Dead Mail, yes. thought it might be one of those chat things the kids go on Understandable, it's one of the dumbest named programs ever. Why not just call it email? I thought the same as you, looked for Outlook Express and got irritated... Quote
Bean Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Jeff. For what you use your PC for, you don't need a new one, it'd be a waste of money. Backup your files and reinstall the OS from scratch. That's all you need do. EDITED *missed that you already wasted money on a new* Quote
Speed Freak Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 ebuyer.com has some great deals you can get your teeth into.. Stay away from the pc worlds currys etc... For what you need it to do, I would reccommend the following: core I3 or i5 (i7 is over the top) ram is cheap as chips, so 4gb+ would do you well.. Because youre over 3gb ram you'll need to be running windows 64bit (32bit only accesses max 3gb). Unless youre going to be watching films or playing games on it, shared graphics card will do... Which costs b****r all! Heres an example of what you could get, and is plenty good enough!! Infact better than that!Harddrive is 1tb!!! http://www.ebuyer.com/279904-acer-aspire-m1930-desktop-pt-sgce9-006 Just dont forget youve got operating system ontop, and monitor... both together should set you back around 200quid ish...depending on what size monitor youre looking at... 20-22inch is a nice size. Hope this is helpful Quote
JeffC Posted October 5, 2011 Author Posted October 5, 2011 anyone had any problems getting email to work on this windows live thing Quote
Captain Colonial Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Of course! That comes as standard. Do you know your POP and SMTP settings? Quote
JeffC Posted October 5, 2011 Author Posted October 5, 2011 Of course! That comes as standard. Do you know your POP and SMTP settings? ive copied everything from my other computer settings and put into the new one and it keeps throwing the user name and password box up Quote
Captain Colonial Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Are you really sure? Have you gone into the Advanced Settings tab and ensured everything is the same? Who's your ISP? Quote
JeffC Posted October 5, 2011 Author Posted October 5, 2011 im with orange, its not just me Pete has been round all night and he couldnt sort it either Quote
Pilot Pete Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Jeff, had a thought on the way home, I would delete the current account and start again with that account setup wizard thing. The 1st time I did it, I put in the wrong details as they were wrong on your piece of paper. had pop.orange instead of pop.orangehome. It shouldn't make a difference, but give it a try anyway. Quote
