Dibby Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 wheres the beer fest? Dan It's the annual Frocester beer festival in Gloucestershire. You anywhere near? Quote
SootySport Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Any beer in tins tastes funny, it does taint the beer as does drinking beer out of a plastic mug. With the widget thingy's they also taint the beer with CO2 or Nitrogen more than usual. I hate lagers and drink proper beer in a glass, if thats not avaible I fall back to the Guiness. Quote
Dibby Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Same here, lager will do for chucking down your neck but you can't beat a nice ale. It's the range I love from light, refreshing, hoppy pale ales through to chcolate, coffee stouts. I find lager is too gassy and it all tastes the same, it's just the strength that varies. Quote
kirkyboy5 Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 hmmm not too far from me but working and by the time i get down there it will be dark aha. Maybe next year!!! Dan Quote
Dibby Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Plus the tickets sell out a couple of weeks after they go on sale in June. It's the sort of beer fest you really want to be there all day to appreciate the wonder of Downtons Severnside brass band Quote

housebeautician Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 hahaha tony you guys dont know how to drink in bedford! its all fine wines and cheese I LOVE innis and gun...one of my favorite ales Dan We do have a modicum of finesse down here, but we can also give you northern chaps a run for your money when it comes to the ale stakes Dan Tried another version the other day of Innis and Gunn and it nearly took my head off after 4 bottles. A real nice ale Quote
housebeautician Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 ale is for old men and softies steady on...and less of the old. I cant drink lager any more for the same reason, savage headache after a couple of cans, dont have a problem with ale. And the ale im talking about is about 8%. Quote
lippydave Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Carling is kiddie chav lager..... If you want mass produced lager, Stella, 1664, Carlsberg Export, Tennents Extra, or Grolsch in bottled form are a far better bet IM(hic)E..... The new generation of Ciders are ok if you want to shift some quantity with a girly fresh taste over ice like a nu-man... Tried a few bottles of the new Stella Cidre at the weekend, and was pleasantly surpised........ Real ale, draft beeer, bottled lager, mass produced beers, they're all good fer just chuffing back, if you were a real p**s-head SteveD you'd be swigging back anything and not worrying about the taste.... At least this cruddy Carling taste confirms yer not an alkie yet.... Just a bad taste chavster wannabe... Anyway, I'm off for a Carlsberg Export with a JD chaser and a side order of Mrs L's favourite rose...After all it is a workday tomorrow..... Just been to visit my old ma in the hospital after her fall, and blew up my rotary engine, ( I know, self-inflicted), so seeking solace and comfort in alcohol this evening..... Quote
Dibby Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Stella is one big randing exercise, one of the cheapest beers a pub can buy, buy sold as one of the most expensive. Nothing gives me a rough head like a night on the wife-beater Quote
