"Almost a hundred casualties in Norway, and still 80% of all the posts I'm reading here on facebook say something along the lines of 'RIP Amy Winehouse'. The f**k? Tens and tens of innocent children slaughtered for NO REASON AT ALL, or a drug abusing stupid b***h who died of her own addiction? Come on man"..... I'm with him all the way, shame for her family but apart from that? Another dumb, dead junkie....Just a shame she didn't take some of her waste of space mates with her..... Kids in there millions dying of starvation in Africa and the media want to talk about some over privileged b***h who chased cheap thrills through drug abuse..? Funk dat, we can get us another dumbcluck singer.... Quote

While it is indeed sad that someone has died, lets keep it in perspective, nearly a hundred completely innocent people murdered by yet another religious nut-job or someone who by their own actions prematurely ended their life. Five killed at US skating rink. Famine to be declared in Somalia. Mass burial for Malawi protestors. All of the people involved in the above had families who loved them too, and I suspect none of them were set on a self-fulfilling, self aggrandising, publicity seeking, self-inflicted demise played out to a gloating media circus.. So my point is yes, it's a shame when anybody dies, but just because you can warble a tune doesn't mean your death has any more significance than any other.... A little more global perspective and sense of responsibility required by the media and the sheep who digest their reportage without questioning it is required IMNSFHO.... Quote

If I were her father I wouldn't be worried about public opinion. I would probably be questioning how myself and my family had let our daughter degenerate into a desperate junkie, surrounded by dealers, pushers and f*ckwit associates without preventing it? Quote

The simple answer to that question is you can not prevent it other than taking out the pushers and locking up the adict but then another will be along to replace them. mates of mines daughter a few years ago got into this situation he was lucky that he had a group of ex army pals to call on who caused such grief to the people feeding her habit he was able to cut off her supply, she is now leading a normal life only lasting effect is she smokes like a chimney. Lurksalot Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 What used to get me about her story , is that the media would be playing her songs on the radio (even rehab) and at the same time showing and reporting about her being off her face and smashed on drugs. It hardly spelled out the dangers she was facing, maybe the latest bit of news will help balance that and sober up some of those who held her in any sort of respect and didn't see it coming.... if its not too late . condolonces to the family.
