I simply cannot believe that you are defending what is an increasing trend of reversing the basic principle of British justice, namely innocent until proven guilty. Giving an officer of the state the power to convict as well as charge is a primary building block of fascism, every authoritarian state in history has a ruling caste who had this power.

He has not been convicted of anything!!!

He hasn't even been given a FP Notice which would put points on his licence!

He has been given a warning - do Police Officers have to go to Court everytime they wish to warn someone verbal or otherwise?

Do you actually want the Police to Police or spend all their time tied up at Court justifying every single decision they make in a working day?

Personnally feel that this incident raised many issues and led alot of folks to beleive that there really is one rule for one and one for another...

Got to agree with that.

I think the S59 was OTT and that the plod could have handled it better.

The trouble is that the outcome of any pull is dependant on you passing the attitude test   and whether the officer is on a power trip.

Having said this, in this case i follow Nikpro's point and agree in this case that from the police point of view they are on a hiding to nothing.

The case of the Shropshire plod does the police no favours in the eyes of the public, and i'm sure 99% of us can quote some sort of injustice or abuse seen over time.

Personally if i was the OP i would just probably try and quieten it down a bit, just to cover my   although i love the sound of them.

And as for speeding, thats a different story

imo speeders should be shot on sight ,build a anti tank missile launcher into the speed gun   just sit there wait for the naughty speeder and  BANG ! ultimate target practice. it kills two birds with one missile, it gets rid of evil speeders and gets rid of people from this over populated island ,thus giving us more room on our roads

I'm off this morning to help build loud exhaust pipes, and play at going sideways in overly powerful v8 cars whilst my mates ridicule my gas guzzling wild revving two stroke car for being a vacuum cleaner..      

Oh and whilst we're at it we'll probably play with Driftworks dancing hydraulic Nissan Cedric with Mexican Ghetto stylee hdraulic rams... and if they can be persuaded to run their race drift cars up and down the road we'll get 'em at that too.....

Im sorry to dig this up again but Id like to keep you all informed incase you ever happen to find yourself in a similar position.

I did visit the local police station the day after the event and asked for an explanation/justification for the S59. The WPC at the counter took my phone number and stated that the officer that had dealt with me (Hobby Bobby) would contact me that evening, but he never did.

Just by chance I mentioned what had happened to somebody the other day, they happen to know somebody that has access to the data base. It appears that nothing has been reported or recorded and so after many weeks of me being Pi**ed off and angry I can now relax a little.

I have never received any paperwork or notification at all, but if nothing else the experience has been an eye opener. So the moral of the story is, dont be as naive as I was and ask questions at the time!!!

I have to say I'm not the slightest bit surprised.  Happy for you Gooner - but not surprised at all.

I wouldn't relax too much, Heaven knows how long it takes them to record these things, after all, and what a benefit to be able to access the database to find out.  But IMNSHO, if they didn't record it, it smacks of local plod just bullying people because they were bored or because they could.

Nothing I have read in this thread possibly justifies a S59 - nothing.  Maybe doing him for speeding as he readily admitted - fine.

Makes my blood come to a simmer.

No comment... apart from, as you do not know me and have never met me, kindly do me the courtesy of not trying to tell me what I do or do not understand - it's judgemental and quite rude to say the least (not to mention inaccurate).
