It really is a case of having a bit of consideration for the neighbours, i've left home for a blat at half five and six in the morning and pushed my car down my drive (which aint that short) and halfway down the road before i get in, start it and poodle off till i get down the road.

Mind you even having done that i've had the woman next door saying that she "heard me go off" goodness me.

Joke is most off the street has been out in it and that includes her family as well.

You can only do your best, after that tell them to go forth and fornicate.

Do agree that it is easier to be friendly with the neighbours that it is to be at war with them ( i've had lots of experience). Got to agree with most of the posts, but it depends on how much they take the pee.

I reckon repacking the exhaust would be a good start.

Good luck :p

I dealt with my problem a little less diplomatically when he last shouted abuse at me for the Westfield being noisy. I told him to get the f**k off my property before I kicked the crap out of him! May not be the best approach for your problem though?

I take it you haven't been around there with your book of Carpet Samples then Mate          :D     :p

All my neighbours are great with my westfield.Granted my sons bedroom is above the garage so I never run it early or late.

Whenever I do start it up (VERY loud!) they always come over for a chat etc.

I think they see that I make a real effort not to be noisy and appreciate it.

New development so most people trying hard to get on.Although new Guy across the road has already fallen out with one of the neighbours about who owned a bit of grass so I'm waiting for a complaint from him lol

When we lived in Bradfield, a very small village, HM was standing at the back of the shop when one of the villagers was at the front complaining about "That noisy little car was making a noise at 11 o'clock last night".

3 people, including HM turned on her to explain that the car was never driven in the village after 7 o'clock as little Jake next door went to bed at that time. In fact, if I came home after that I always came down the hill with the engine off and coasted to a stop in the lane and left it outside for the night.

I love the sound of a nice car, however, some people will complain about anything.  Like the person who complained about the noise of the Grace Spitfire....

Trouble is that the busy body for some unknown reason has the upper hand in this country.  Like the woman who complained about the noise of Croft(?) race circuit.  The fact that she was the ex wife of the person running the circuit and living in a house given to her by the circuit (IIRC) was of no importance according to the courts.
