Noise restrictions (exhaust noise)

there are more noise sauces than just the exhaust on a WF

"Noise sauces"? You need to explain what these are, how they taste, and where I can buy them.  Only noise sauce I know is the farts made from a good curry!

These people just irritate the feck out of me. Our rally car is really really loud but all our immediate neighbours are really supportive of us and some say they enjoy the rumble even when their tea cups are wobbling off the table ;-). They come out and chat and we get them involved. It actually gets fired up very very rarely with this in mind and if were out early morning to go out on events we even push it out of the road before firing her up.........but then we have Mr Twitcher (named due to his curtain habits) who loves to stand on his doorstep hands on hips even if it hasn't been fired up for weeks/months. Let them get on with it mate and dont rise to it. Some people have such sad lives it gives them a buzz to moan. They are probably just bitter they didn't do anything as exciting in thier own lives. Jockeys ;-)

You really must keep in with the neighbours as if you have a dispute it may be very difficult to sell your house when you want to move on.

Flawed logic.

If you're annoying your neighbours and you decide to move, surely the neighbours will be doing everything in their power to ensure the move is swift and successful if it means they're rid of the nuisance. I had one such neighbour who was an annoying a******e. But I'd have happily helped him pack...

We have one  neighbour that is a complete  :arse: hole!

He complains about every thing, music in the summer cars making noise and even complained about my dogs making constant noise to the council.

The council where invited round, by myself, for tea and biscuits for as long as they wanted to stay and see if they could hear my dogs bark, which is seldom!

Every year I hold an annual  BBQ, to commiserate my wedding anniversary. Last year at 12.10 am the police turned up due to complaints about noise. They where killing their self laughing when they realised we knew who complained as he was the only neighbour not in attendance!

Some neighbours are fantastic, all but one of mine are! Some are a pain in the  :arse:

I dealt with my problem a little less diplomatically when he last shouted abuse at me for the Westfield being noisy. I told him to get the f**k off my property before I kicked the crap out of him! May not be the best approach for your problem though?

Funny how you get used to neighbours.  We had a family next door who, in hindsight, were a horrendous bunch of foul-mouthed, noisy, inconsiderate, bigoted pains in the :arse:  They sold up last year at a loss through their own incompetence, and it was bought by a young medical student (with parental help), who rents out four other rooms to fellow medical students.  Right, here we go me thinks, constant parties and noise...

Nothing.  Quiet as church mice, except for the builders coming in to improve the property (and it needed it, made Father Ted's house look tasteful), for whom they apologised!  Now realise how much we'd put up with before. :bangshead:

when I was racing those two strokes a few ago I often had to fire them up at home {after rebuilds}, all the neighbours where very, very supportive, it was normally just for a few mins to get the lubes and coolent around the engine and mid Saturday / Sunday afternoon so not late. Same with the westy BUT i do knock it out of tick and coast down the close if its after 8pm at night as we have a few  under 5's in the close now.....

NORm, if you live in a little village called bradford abbas in dorset, you will find the local authority have nothing better to do, i merely meant to have some support for tyourself that it is certain people who "have it in for you" rather than you actually causing any nuisance :) i have a biased opinion, and honestly think the mere suggestion of a petition should mean at least a week of 3am start ups :devil:

ETA: then i seen this :D

That what YOU should do. Me, I'd just go around and flatten them all.

thats the spirit norm :)

Blatters, I meant that if they call the council the dispute would have to be notified when selling the house (same for them). This makes selling rather harder.

I was looking at a house near Ripponden and the plan was to buy 127 sq. metres of land from the adjacent farm to build a garage. I was going to sink it into the ground so the roof was the same height as the wall, 1.2 meters. One of the neighbours walked by as I was measuring and I explained (I was going to knock on both doors). I only got as far as "I'm going to build a garage but it...." and she let rip with "Oh no your not, I'll object and stop you.." etc. I didn't bother explaining that she couldn't as she stormed of shouting. This garage wasn't in her line of sight across the valley. But her other half's Transit van parked outside her window. As the farmer price for £190 of pasture was, wait for it, ready.... £30,000 we left it at that. Even if had wanted the £3000 I was prepared to pay I doubt I would have gone through with it and had constant disputes with her.

Another one was going through a village on a blat (about 50 7s) and one villager was standing in the middle of the road collecting number plates. I pulled up and beckoned with "what are you doing". Silly women came right up to the car to explain she was reporting all of us for making a noise. I just drove off - right over her feet.

As others have said best bet is to try to make sure that at least the car is as quiet as possible because the law changed recently and you may find a problem in future.

Because of all the boy racer complaints the poice now have the power to issue a section 57 which as I understand it is based on the policemans opinion as to wether it is too loud or not. Collect IIRC 3 of these and they can confiscate the car.

Now the issue is this my car pased SVA at 103 DB which was the law then, so technically so long as it is that or below they should be able to do nothing but the policeman decides if it is causing a nusciance which you then have to fight.

Sadly we have too many people who buy a house which they think allows them to rule the whole area. Annoying as it is apeasment is the best bet as you have to by law tell a potentila buyer of any neighbour issues. The problem for you is a buyer might not want to move into such a narrow minded area not matter how desperate they are for you to move out.
