Sounds a bit like all the gear and no idea? If you're buying stuff to stand out you'd better be pretty damn good.

We see it a lot in biking, people with more money than sense buying up all the modern top of the range kit, top-to-toe colour coordinated race suits but they're afraid of every bump on the course.  Then you get some 12 year old kid on a crusty old Halfords special faster than anyone out there ... little sod!

not at all, If I wanted to show off I would follow them into the toilet to the urinal  ;)

just talking a few lads they were saying how modern clubs are easier to hit and drivers will now hit further and are easier to hit, I had a whack with a "rescue club" looked like an iron with a back on it and it was good. I bought my gear about 9 years ago and they reckon im putting myself at a disadvantage straight away  :suspect:

:suspect:

Ps I would be s***e at golf  no matter what was in my hand

You'd be surprised, I've just 'invested' in a new set of Mizuno irons and I'm staggered at the improvment in clubs over the past 10 years. Iron for iron I'm hitting the ball 30 yds further even mi****s go a long way and fairly straight too. I lent them to mate mate who's a scratch golfer and even he was taken back by just how good they are!!

As regards you golf doubters out there, the chances of Mrs Boxerman letting me go on a week long p**s up in the Algarve with the lads would normally be less than zero however, call it a golf trip with 15 of my fellow golfers and somehow it's not a problem :D
