Ive been invited to make up a 4 ball at quite a posh local golf course   (ramside hall)  now  its been years since i played and cant recall the exact  dress code , im planning on wearing taylored shorts and polo shirt but not sure what you can get away with for socks  :suspect:  :suspect:  :suspect: a quick google suggest knee length dark coloured socks :0:0  :0   but as im this side of 70 I dont own any and was gonna wear my usual ankle socks  :suspect:

can any of the Golfers on here clarify if im likely to get evicted from the course for wearing short socks  (once they see me digging up the course with a 7 iron they prob will anyway        ) :durr:

Trainer socks are quite acceptable at golf courses these days, however just take some money with you so you can buy a pair of acceptable ones at the pro shop if necessary.

I'd look to the pro's for inspiration..... :D

Summer attire at my GC if wearing tailored shorts is long socks only (no tennis short ones) all shirts must have collar and no shorts allowed at all in the club house bars / restaurant only on the terrace.  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  ;)

Evening a collar and tie must be worn in dining room and formal bar - but not required in "scruffs / Tartan Bar"

If its a municipal course dress code is more relaxed and short tennis socks are o.k altho its still tailored only shorts   ;)  :D

Jeez Mark

Your club is a bit harsh on the dress. Mines a private club where trainer socks and shorts are allowed in the clubhouse during the day

If there was ever a sport/ leisure/ passtime that's up its own A***, then this has gotta be it :bangshead:

My neighbour was captain at an old established top club, and had a real battle to relax the rules on socks from knee high to mid calf.  He just couldn't understand why the whole thing made me PMSL every time we discussed it at the pub.  How childish and pathetic can grown men carrying a bag of sticks and chasing a little white ball for miles be?

Just paint your legs black from the knee down. Simples!

Sorry, what was the question? I'm still looking at the girls A***.

Well said Mr B........... Now i don't mind golf as a game (even got a set of bats myself!) but the bulls*** around the game is pathetic... My mate used to own/run a golf club and he said the "members" were like a bunch of spoilt children!

Agree, I used to be a member of our local course and the older generation that played there were a law to themselves , they were so far up there own a**es it was unreal, rather like a lot of the Caterham and Porsche owners Ive come across , my pal used to call them 10 bob millionares , I just called them w*nkers  :t-up:

Im teeing off at 1.00 today and its an event organised by one of the big Jewellers from Newcastle with a very select invitation list of their top customers , my pal has bought his collection of Panerai watches from the place and one of his pals dropped out last minute hence i got the invite last night     :D

Oh how im not going to fit in today will be like a square peg in a round hole  :D
