mark.anson
hi folks, Having decided to build a WESTFIELD, with a VX engine,Ive now obtained the build manual, prior to ordering the kit. Ive noticed on a couple of build sites that the rear body tub seems to be moulded to accept a spare wheel on the back of the car.Do you have to have this, or can you buy the tub flat, without this moulded shape. Also can you have an option of alloy side panels instead of GRP.Reading all the bumph from Westfield, it would appear not. They dont seem to have many options like some of the other kits? Mike
can you buy the tub flat, without this moulded shape not that i know of. although you dont have to put a spare wheel on. As far as i know the only options on the westfield body are the ducted/non ducted nose and V8 bonnet. can you have an option of alloy side panels instead of GRP no the grp body covers over the alloy panels. mike
busapower2001
I am pretty sure all the GRP tubs have this slight recess for the spare wheel. You do not have to have a spare wheel and the trend these days is to ditch it for the significant weight saving. Westfield sell a nifty sunburst logo vinyl "sticker" which fits neatly in this space and in my opinion looks kewlio. I prefer having the recess as opposed to having a smooth backed body tub like some of the other kits - It gives the car some more visual definiton. I have seen one or two people put the number plate inthe centre of this recess too. Oh a tip if you get the sticker. Apparently you are meant to use soapy water on the tub when applying the sticker to make it mobile for positioning. Wish I'd known that the first time I tried! 30 more squids down the drain and onto attempt
