Marc

I use bike torque racing as well for my 'bike parts' they are spot on, just give them a ring tell them what chain and how many links you want easy. I have always had delivery by the next day, great service.

A chap from Sweden is interested.. Does anyone know if he can register it there?

I'd better start a new thread..

Yikes,

I'm getting so much interest in this car since the Piston Heads advert that I think Sparky21 was right - it's rather under-priced!

I should have started the pricing at £17995 and gone from there!

I've been going through the old receipts today and realised that the race suspension and brakes were an upgrade option as were the nice aero harnesses, carbon mirrors, engine scoop, bi-wing, Stack dash and a few other bits (I can't remember without dashing down stairs!)

We also paid the factory an extra £500 to make a pukka job of cutting the cooling vents and light holes into the bodywork..

One chap from Sweden says please don't sell - he's already booked a ferry!?

Another chap wants to see it tomorrow and says he'll bring the asking price in cash...

A couple of other chaps want it as soon as they've sold their cars...

So I'm wondering if the fairest option is to run a short ebay auction with a starting price at the £15950 and let these potential new owners decide how under priced it is..

I've also just spent about £2000 on the engine, new ACB10s, MoT etc

So it would be nice to get a little of that back :-|

What should I do?!

I don't want to mess people about so should I just sell it to the first person that comes and pays the £15950 or run a quick eBay auction on it?

Up to you of course but think I'd be wary of upping the price as could just p**s all your potential buyers off, that said seems a shame not to get the most you can for it.  Still, at least should mean you get the asking price for it I guess.  I did forward the details to Trev but I'm on holiday at the moment so haven't spoken to him.

Out of interest, how much value do you think having it road legal adds a mine has never been SVA'd?

as always with selling i would say first come first served if the price is right obviously.

It also depends how quick you want to sell, if your in no rush at all then I can not see any harm in starting a new add at revised price but like stated above could poss annoy potential buyers that are half interested allready but at the end of the day its your car and can change the selling price to what you want...

Also I would take what the people say bout the ferry with a pinch of salt and not take them seriously till they are standing on your driveway.....

you have also got to remember that these cars can take a while to sell and for someone who is truely interested will pay a good price for a car of you spec, mileage and being one owner,

Again these are all only my opinions so please take them as you please.

all the best

Marc

I would say these will differ on many things, spec etc, I have seen track only xtr2's sell for just under 11k but it was a very well used track car if you know what i mean and it was cheap for a reason ie pretty tatty, but still very cheap.

Don't quote me on this but I would think a road legal spec should add around the 2k mark, that's what I would think anyway......

It's not really in my nature to do the eBay or price hike options so I've decided to leave the asking price at £15950 but adjust what is included in the sale and what is available as an extra should the new owner be interested in it.

(I've also realised that it was 2005 that it was registered and that I have a number of things to include that I'd forgotten about)

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3151249.htm

Here's a copy of the new wording.

==========

XTR2 is up for sale.

It was Registered on 1 June 2005.

It seems I've under priced this car by a couple of thousand, but I'll leave the basic price as it is and make some of the unfitted parts available as an extra cost option should the buyer need / want them.

Loads of Interest in the car - first to come and pay for it can have it.

STILL INCLUDED with the car are - The Terratrip Intercom System, a Hayabusa Airbox, Exhaust Packing (2 packs), Spare Wing support brackets, End Plates to use in single wing configuration, Spare Oil, a 16 tooth front sprocket should you wish to gear down from the 17 tooth fitted, 2 spare steering arms and rods, different length ARB drop links (should you want to radically change the ride height), Fog Light (some MoT stations turn a blind eye to whether this is fitted), Standard Horn (should you prefer it), some seals and engine spares, clutch push rod, spare pulley belt, spare throttle pedal. some spare AFAM chain and 2 joining links, M7 XTR Registration, Construction manual, Suspension set up sheet, big file of receipts and documents etc.

========================

It's just had £1517 spent on an engine refresh and passed it's MoT yesterday (10th August)

It was carefully assembled by 2 Mechanical Engineering Graduates, it passed the SVA test first time and I've garaged and taken good care of it ever since :-)

Road use is surprisingly easy and great fun, then it really comes into it's own on a trackday - where it runs at R500 pace whilst the sensory bombardment make you feel like you're driving your own little F1 car !

No previous owners, All History & Receipts & Manuals & Comprehensive Build Log (467 hours work to SVA!). Just 1405 miles.

Very Good Value at  £15950  for a quick sell.

Very Nimble, well balanced car and it has been great fun to drive, both on the road and on a few trackdays - including the Nurburgring and Spa  :-)

The car is finished in natural black:

We couldn't decide on the best paint job so we left it in the matt black (since copied by the new Ferraris!!)

At Trackdays the car always seemed to attract a steady flow of enthusiasts who'd seen it lapping and came to the garage to check it out.. They all said it looks really good in matt black.. So we decided to keep it that way.

So the new owner will either share that point of view or have a 'blank canvas' to paint as they wish :-)

There is a dinky little hinged access panel in the left of the dash where there is a flat surface to mount the Race Technology Data Logger. I may decide to sell this to the new owner.

I've also pre-installed 7 core cable running from the dash area to the engine bay of the car. So fitting further sensors or gear shift kits etc is made more simple..

I have a Brian James Clubman trailer that works well with the XTR2 but I wanted to hang on to that, However I should be able to deliver the car when sold. Or you could drive it home if we get some tax on it and you don't mind being the centre of attention!?

Feel free to ask any questions or organise a viewing.

NB in the photos the car is on long grass and the ride height was set rather low!

I've set up a 'Dropbox' so I can send you more photo links..

As with all car sales of this nature - until you have cash in hand there is no deal and the first person to turn up with the cash gets the car - no "hold it for me" or other nonsense....this is the fairest and easiest to understand way of doing it.

If the guy from sweden was that interested he would have left a deposit....as would the rest.  Any deposit has to be a large enough amount to justify possible lost sales, and has to have a time limit....I'd say to anyone that £500 buys 7 days - non refundable under any circumstances and after the 7 days the car is back open to the first person with the full amount.

Good luck with the sale, I hope they don't all turn out to be time-wasters.

Cheers Greig,

Yep, I reckon our naff exchange rate is causing a lot of interest in UK cars (kit & classic)

Last night a chap from Austria wanted to fly in and check it out.

You can see why - he could bag it for 17000 Euros which a few years ago would have equated to about 11 grand.!.

But I'd rather our UK gems stay in Blighty :-)
