lunny
Im after a VDO sendor or alternative for use with the factory VDO electronic speedo. My propshafts just taken mine out and westfield want £50+ for a new one. Anyone know a cheaper supplier or alternative? that said, at least theres no risk of exceeding my 3000ml limit at the moment Martin
Richard M Green
There is a device known as a 'Hunter Transducer' which connects into the gearbox at the normal mechanical speedo drive output and generates electrical pulses (2, 4 or 8 per revolution) to drive an electronic speedo. I bought mine from Merlin Motorsport, but no doubt other companies sell them. ISTR the cost is about £40. The product is described here: http://www.huntertransducers.com/hunter/ HTH regards Richard
AndyC_772
The Hunter should work fine - although be aware that the VDO speedo will work with a variety of different sensor types (electronic, magnetic or inductive), so you may need to connect the Hunter to different pins on the back of your speedo than the original sensor. I think I have the wiring diagram somewhere - email me if you need a copy.
lunny
Looking at the hunter transducer it relys on connecting to a speedo cable exiting from the g.box. I dont have this. I have a MT75 box, which already has a electronic sensor fitted, ive just never connected it up - simply didnt think it would work. Does anyone know if this can be made to work with VDO electronic speedo's?. if it can problem solved. Cheers Martin
Enterpryse
Does anyone know if the standard VDO gauges supplied by Westfield are just that - standard - in respect of the connectors on the back? Stuart
