14mpg ....... i get 20 mpg out of the s4 with the roof down , i have manged 26 on a cruise before but its average over the last 10k miles has been 20 .

you need a chipped A5 3.0 dismal cab

hhhmmmm not sure on the A5 the 3.0 tdi is a lot of money compared to the A4 and im not sure what is to be gained they will both prob drive as bad as each other            

might just keep the Box short term and maybe buy a A4 cabby for the 6 weeks holiday when the kids are off..

but then again i might not

the A5 cab drives alot better than the 4 ........ however in 3.0 dismal trim its pricey

Think you could be right, I am in the same boat, SWMBO wants a soft top that we can all fit into, the Defender is fab as a daily drive, the Golf just plods on but the Westy isnt getting used......
