Jeff, my kids grew up with an MGB and when they couldn't sit on the hand made seats over the battery covers anymore we progressed to a Stag.

As long as you accepted the Stag wasn't a sports car it's fine as a kids wagon.

However, I won't go into the court case that ensued after I sold it to a PE teacher. It went something along the lines of "lots of smoke coming out the bonnet at the lights. It cleared after a minute or so. I noticed the oil pressure was on zero so I drove it home and got back here (to dealership) as soon as i could this morning." So 36 miles with no oil - I heard it coming along Whitechapel Road 3 minutes before it turned onto the forecourt.

BMW 650 cab you can pick up a 20-30k mileage minter for a lot less than £20k. I agree they are 'different' looking at the rear and not for everyone. I drive a coupe version and average 27mpg with just over 30mpg possible on a run.  Not that quick if you are used to a seven, but it makes a nice noise :p

I've owned a 4-seater convertible in the past......

It was a late series Triumph Vitesse with vaguely proper rear suspension. It was a nice little car in the 70's when I had it!!

Don't Volvo do the C70 with the T5 motor? The current one has one of those folding steel thingies that mean you have no boot when it's sunny but the previous series had a fabric roof.

The previous C70 had a dual motor system that was known to go very wrong and cost lots of money to fix too  :0

I reckon the RS4 Cab would be worth a laugh. Wont be inspiring, but should be reliable and decently quick. With petrol at 1.40/l theres never been a better time to buy an RS4.

BTW my RS 6 averages 18-19 on motorway cruising so I reckon a rag top RS4 should manage 20.

Jeff , the RS4 is a spanking idea (or a late S4 to save a few pennies )

or if the money was richer a nice A5 3.0 dismall cab and chip it .....

Dont tell Barry or Tommo  :p    but I picked this up today as have a customer after one, first time Ive tried one and I dont think they are quick enough for the fuel consumption , I drove it steady away home and was only showing 14mpg when i got back, the computer average over the last 9000 miles was 19   so think I will rule out an rs4 cab now    :(

number plate was canny good I thought  :D
