without wishing to offend anyone (expecially Jeff)

do you not think "look at that dangler" when a four seater cabrio tootles by?    ok maybe it's just  ???

must admit you see a good number of 4 seater cabrios around - how often do you see them with top down - rarely even in tut summer

for me I just cannot think of any that I would aspire to own - but I await to be surprised

no offence fella just my opinion - and as a friend I have never met I am just trying to save you the embarrasment    :p  ;)

Yeah but with you at the wheel, does it matter? It's not like you're an enhancement...:devil::p:D

no offence taken Cleggster, we are all different, I think there is nothing nicer on a nice day than a drive in an opened top car, Ive always had a 2 seater soft top since i passed my test, X19 was the first  :D

down side to a 2 seater is when the kids are off school, which is a lot when the sun is out the 2 seater doesnt get used , my 2 older kids dont come with us now on days out so I would get away with a 3 seater but there is only one of those motors that Scooby has that i know has 3 seats and as much as i could be convinced  im not sure swmbo would approve

I get your drift Jeff and I am all up for 2 seater or even 2 plus 2 cabrios

it's just four seaters where the question of "look at that dangler" springs to mind    :p

Nah don't agree .. I think it's one of the few cabs that don't look like they should be driven by girls

well I think it will go one of two ways unless I can come up with another alternative, either a new shape 3 series diesel which looks ok and ive enjoyed driving my previous 330ds/335ds but  might look into one of those for swmbo as a daily drive and keep the box, or sell box and get rs4 cab as looking around they look b****y good vfm at the mo..  :suspect:

the problem with the A4 cab is that whoever sits in the back has to be driven around holding one hand up in the air and and a finger over the top lip...

I agree with the majority that there are no appealing 4seater convertibles (all the derived cars are poo - eg focus, eos, A4, saab, pug etc.  havent driven a mini drop top and not sure if the back seats are usable.

the modern 2+2's (Aston DB9, Jag, porsche ???) the rear seats are useless and they are all hugely expensive.  I keep thinking there must be a market for an MX5 2+2 where children who have real legs can get in the back.

My passion for front engined rear wheel drive convertibles comes from childhood memories of being driven around in a tr5.  Whilst it was a squeeze you could get two adults in the front and two kids in the back.  Back then a tr5 was an affordable car.

Jeff - if i was in your position I might consider going for a classic like a tr5 - using your stock to run in around in and the toys for high days and holidays.  a convertible is not all about out and out performance (no kid wants to be wind blasted at 100mph+ in the back) its about the sun shining and enjoying the drive.  but you also need something that you find rewarding to drive when the kids arent in.  for me there is nothing quite like pushing a classic hard for the shear terror/grin factor.

We have a coupe here at work in the competitor vehicles fleet.....

I've driven it and I'm smitten....  :D

Can only imagine that the ragtop would be THE tool to blat down the Amalfi coastline... :t-up:

Some of the fit and finish in the cabin is not quite up to Teutonic standards, but it has real character.... Think one of these would be a keeper, so maybe no good for JeffC... :D  :D

thrifty northern tightarses

Being a cockney who lived up norf and is now an honoury Frenchman AND just bought an Audi A6 Tdi I take offence at that remark.

Only joking, it's not only northeners who are tightarses. I'm so tight I won't even throw used tissues away.
