Has anyone got a Carbon Exhaust (presumably it is just the silencer that's carbon like a motorcycle)? Where can I get one and are they going to be much more expensive than the £500 westfield want for a system? Predator have said they could do one but they would want to see it, and they are several hundred miles away - too far if they are then going to quote me big money.... fordy Posted March 12, 2003 Share Posted March 12, 2003 SBD developments do a carbon can silencer for the westfield www.sbdev.co.uk but it aint cheap. Also, you need to be running injection to have one - if your on carbs, then you have a danger of backfiring in the exhasut cracking the carbon - although sbd do a carbon can that has an all sleeve inside to aleviate this problem - but that more money!! Guest Posted March 12, 2003 Share Posted March 12, 2003 Ben, My Westy has a carbon fibre silencer which looks like it came from a bike. I managed to put a hole in it last year and was quoted "30 quid mate" by a breakers shop which specialises in bike parts. In the end I managed to repair the existing silencer so didn't bother to buy a replacement. I will have to do so soon though as my bodged repair is failing fast! The exhaust is off the car at the moment as I am fitting a new engine. However I can put the exhaust back together on the garage floor and take a photo for you if you are interested. I have only ever seen 4-1 systems fitted to Zetecs so I dont know if a 4-2-1 would be any better.
