juansolo Posted December 20, 2002 Posted December 20, 2002 10%? I'm sure we could come to some arrangement Quote
Sputnik Posted January 17, 2003 Posted January 17, 2003 I Stuck a Mini heater in my SE, attached to the scuttle & Steering column support bar with some modified Dexion. I also used the Wiper unit from the same mini successfully, though that was in 1992. Pictures at http://www.pistonenvy.com/westfieldpics/build/westfieldbuild.html If that's any help. Quote
neilb Posted January 17, 2003 Posted January 17, 2003 Just get it SVA'd without any screen on then you don't get any problems about the high of the aeroscreen or have to remove a heater box and all that plumbing..... Neil Quote
JonnyBoy Posted January 17, 2003 Posted January 17, 2003 The wiper motor is straight out of a mini.... you may even find a nice goldseal recon unit in the scrappy if you are lucky. Wiper boxes are a westfield special (at westfield sprecial price) Heater...as others have said, the mini unit is ideal. all i had to do was to remove the front pannel and botch up a new way of redirecting the air flow. The mini screen ducts and tubes are fine too and are sufficiently clear of all the instruments etc. simply fix the ducts with a good helping of silicon. The unit sits happily on the TTunel, doesnt get in the way, and I simply secured it too the lower dashboard hoop with 2 self tappers, and it was solid as a rock. Needs fitting before the scuttle goes on ideally, as it was a mare to get out. I took my heater out last summer 'cos i felt like i was in the slightly 'puffy' section of the club. (well, to help shave off some lbs really) Mine may go back in when/if I sell the car, otherwise i would offer it to you. but i could probably get some pics of the thing if that will help you decide what to do. JonnyBoy Posted January 17, 2003 Posted January 17, 2003 Or, what about a 12v travel hairdryer ducted in? Could be effective enough for SVA Quote
Blatman Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 Wiper boxes are a westfield special No they're not.......I think you'll find they're fitted to Mini's too..........They certainly aren't "specially made" for a Westfield........... Quote
neilwillis Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 Juansolo...... You have a PM (If we do this on the QT, we can do Blatman out of his 10% Quote
Blatman Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 How do you know me and Juan aren't the same person? Quote
neilwillis Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 I'll buy your silence, just don't tell yourself what you know Quote
SteveC Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 whilst on the subject of wipers, does anyone know the difference between the ones that park to the right, as seen on earlier cars, ie my '93 kit (and looks like your road car as well Blatters), and the latter ones that park to the left and look to give a beter sweep of the wiper up to the drivers side pillar, pronbably makes no difference when the rain is going over the screen and onto the inside Quote
JonnyBoy Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 Blatters... IIRC, the wiper boxes that came off the plundered mini were approx 1" shorter than the ones that westfield told me i needed from them and they were waaay too short to go through the scuttle and finishing strip whilst keeping an adequate angle for the arms on the screen. And if you are right...then i will be p******** that i paid 55 squid for the pair! That said....others may have been infinately cleverer than me when fitting them. Regards Quote
Blatman Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 Both my wiper sets have spacers that are longer than 1", as far as I can tell............... And it's just occurred to me that I recall some-one saying that they may be from a Land Rover..........I'd look at Morris Marina's/Itals too.......... Quote
