Tim Ellershaw Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 +1 for HTC. I've just got a Legend from Vodafone for £20 per month. I Love it! I'm geeky enough to want to read email and browse the web with it all the time. Google Maps Sat Nav is great. Screen is very crisp and bright. Build quality is nice (heavy enough to feel purposeful without being too big) Battery life is a bit short if you are using GPS/WiFi/screen all the time, but probably no worse than other similar big screen phones. Also have HTC TouchPro2 with a work project. Phone is OK, but not that impressed with the Windows Mobile – seems a bit slower than my Android powered Legend. Tim. Quote
Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted June 23, 2010 Author Posted June 23, 2010 thanks for the input guys - will probably go to the o2 shop in town rather than order over the phone will wait until Thursday just in case I opt for the iphone Quote
Captain Colonial Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 Cleggy, this on the BBC News website makes interesting reading, especially the bit about O2 stopping unlimited data usage bundles on iPhones from today - could get pricey! Quote
combatsapph Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 QUOTE Better than any iPhone. +1 Love my HTC Desire - such a big upgrade over my HTC TouchHD - good riddance to Windows Mobile forever. My iPhone owning friends are also jealous and I don't think the iPhone 4 brings much extra to the table. Now, what we really want is a HTC Evo coming to Europe :-) Quote
RobC Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 Iphone issues already plus limited data is across the board.. .not just on the iphone Quote
adamnreeves Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 Well I have a 3GS IPhone and was very happy with it. When I disovered that you can get TomTom for it I was over the moon with it. The software is not a cut down version of the full TomTom satnav either, I have safety cameras, black spots, traffic updates, voice, etc. I got a phone holder from halfrauds which fits it perfectly and adheres to my carbon dash. The setup is actually better than what I have in the tin-top. Quote

I know I'll probably regret saying it, but had no issues with the OS4 upgrade so far. Quote

Ian Podmore Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 HTC Desire here - it's been great so far. Email easy to set up on exchange account, plus contacts and calendar. Works a treat. Screen is fantastic, and even appears to be surviving been put in my pocket. Being trying to play with a 'Dyno' app for a laugh - no success so far unless my TDi has really got 20bhp. Quote

Yeah there's some stirrings getting megasquirt tuning on Iphone. The hurdle at the moment was serial communications on the Iphone. Quote

Porkie Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 Got my new iphone4 yesterday... its nice, screen AMAZING. hopefully battery life will be better than the 3GS which was just a JOKE!!! camera flash as well. otherwise much the same as before... E.g... its a COOOL TOY!!! not a proper phone! I ALWAYS carry my blackberry 9700 around as proper phone that will never let you down (all my clients and friends on BBmessenger all the time as well so I kinda have to carry it!) Iphone is like a westy for me! VERY cool and fun toy! but not something practical that you can ever depend on. I would always have a 'proper' car as well! Quote
Captain Colonial Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 No sir, there's nothing wrong with the design of our phone, but don't hold it like that, you left-hander. And buy a case for it as well. Clicky for today's laugh Quote
Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted June 25, 2010 Author Posted June 25, 2010 why do mobile phone companies make it so b****y complicated - well I think we can guess I asked the guy I just spoke to for a price difference from what I currently pay for the year between upgrading to the desire or the new iphone well he lost me almost as soon as he opened his mouth he said it will cost you an extra £50 for the year in total - so I said - hang on my current monthly line rental on the lead phone is £26 - you said the line rental would be £40 sumtin quid plus internet charge of £6 sumtin and a one of charge of £80 sumtin quid for the phone so how can it be an extra £50 per year he said "oh right, yer, umm" "hang on" "cough, splutter" after a long and confusing conversation and not really getting anywhere I ended up not commiting to buy anything and am now sitting here thinking, shall I even bother changing? Fat Albert Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 Apple, design over engineering, style over substance, the Red Bull of consumer electronics Samsung's Galaxy S (left below) has the same version of Android as the Desire, 3 times the battery life of the iPhone and most importantly, a screen you can read in bright sunlight! And their tablet blows the iPad into the weeds Quote
