Kerry

We had a Mk 1 in the family for 12 years. Totally reliable, and fabulous fun. Best of all, we eventually sold it on Ebay and lost less than £12k from new in those 12 years ;)

Enjoy

I'm thinking of getting one for Mrs H, prob not until next spring though. It upsets her that she cannot possibly physically drive my Westfield now since I bolted the driver's seat to the floor and the rear baulkhead. She wouldn't be able to see over the aeroscreen, and even if she could, the pedals would be about 15" away from her feet!

We feel it would be a lot less uncomfortable to tour in than the Westfield, particularly when it rains!

We'd still keep the Westfield of course, but only for fun "blats" and for me to drive in the Speed Series.

Nice, my mum has just bought one to replace her mk2, i was a bit dubious until i realised it had 160bhp, 6 spd box and LSD :)

Yes, but no but.......I haven't got the money until the new year.

Anyway, Mrs H. is very fussy, and very bossy. Its got to be storm blue or burgundy.

Nice car.

Stephan, My wife has the same problem. She can see over the aero and she can reach the pedals....but not at the same time.

When I want Mrs H to press the brake pedal on command, to bleed the brakes (I do it twice a year) she has to have 2 pillows behind her back since I put the lightweight race seat in for the driver. :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D

Very nice Kerry - wouldn't have minded one myself but my next door neighbour is a long-standing member of the MX5 club and has had four of them I think - all new. He goes on rallies and group events and all that. That's why I couldn't possibly have bought one and had him poring all over it looking for inferior features to his latest new one. :arse:

Hence the Z3 on my drive ...........

Thanks all!

Z3 looks nice too. I have heard that the MX5 OC are a bit nerdy. The local group meet at the same pub on same night as the Westies do, better wear a disguise I thinks.

First impressions on driving it is how huge the steering wheel is after the Westy  :0

And 6 gears!!! And here's me more used to an old man's auto box  :bangshead:

Having checked out the ratios of the 5-speed to 6-speed, the latter is slightly higher geared in every gear. Sixth gives 60mph at 2500rpm which is nice and relaxed cruising.

wonder if you could chop the screen to make it aero screen and add a rollcage...

Could see myself in one of those.....
