michael Posted November 17, 2002 Posted November 17, 2002 I have just sold my c******m (classic 1.6vx 100bhp) and have about 10k to spend I am thinking of a Westfield because I think you get more car for your money Want it for weekend blasts and occasional track days Not sure about car or bike engined What do you think I should be setting my sights on? damianc Posted November 18, 2002 Posted November 18, 2002 This is just the sort of question which may fire up the usual wars, so I'll pre-empt blatman and suggest using the search function on engines (bike vs car etc). There seem to be many pros & cons for most configurations, it just seems t be a matter of what you consider most appropriate for your intended use. Sorry to be so vague Quote
catflap Posted November 18, 2002 Posted November 18, 2002 Seems a good time to buy now, ive been looking at prices, and they are pretty cheep. Ive seen a few blade cars for around the 10k mark (some a little cheaper due to seller wanting new project and all that) I own a blade car and think its fantastic (or it will be when my brakes are sorted again) My mate has a tuned cross flow and in all honesty there is little in it in terms of speed, and nothing in terms of fun factor, (his car is well set up and shames mine in the handling department) You get a lot of performance for your money with a mageblade but they are very narrow minded cars. If your in the staffs area your welcome to a blasé in mine to check one out first hand Quote
stevejones Posted November 18, 2002 Posted November 18, 2002 If you are looking for a cheaper entry point, I've just posted my 1992 SEI in cars for sale. 148BHP X-Flow at wheels and it flies... Plenty of change from £10K..! Steve Quote
michael Posted November 19, 2002 Author Posted November 19, 2002 Catflap - what did you mean about narrow minded cars? Also, can you point me in the direction of some of the blades you have seen for sale Thanks Quote
Mark Stanton Posted November 19, 2002 Posted November 19, 2002 Have a look at the latest edition of Kit Car magazine - its a load of IMHO as usual - but its got loads of Westfields for sale incl. some BEC stuff Quote
Two Dinners Posted November 19, 2002 Posted November 19, 2002 Or join the club and see the for sale section in the back of Westfield World. Mark you are slipping Quote

westy Posted November 19, 2002 Posted November 19, 2002 The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, at least until you get there anyway... Grass, that’s soooooo 20th century (so yes has some historical significance). Here in the westy camp we use astro turf, much more modern and lighter and comes in a variety of shades of green including the most popular one called 'greener'. Its also can be better value than the traditional turf and grass combination. Now smoking grass that’s another subject.... Quote

CateringVan Posted November 19, 2002 Posted November 19, 2002 Ahhh, but grass (of the lawn variety) is the real, proper stuff. As everyone knows, astroturf is a cheap plastic imitation which is inferior in just about every respect when compared to proper grass. At first sight it looks great but its shortcomings soon become obvious. You dont have to take my word for it, just take a look at any premier league football pitch and you will see that there isnt a blade of astroturf to be seen anywhere. Quote
Blatman Posted November 19, 2002 Posted November 19, 2002 All true, but lets examine that a bit more closely shall we? Real grass is high maintainence, handles poorly in the wet, and "corrodes" badly when exposed to the elements. It's also bl**** expensive for no apparent gain............. I rest my case............ Jeeves, pass my coat, there's a good chap........... Quote
