Removing heater?

Can anyone tell a complete mechanical dunce how to completely remove the heater on my 99 Westfield sport carbon?

Went out today and didn't use it, so time to lose it!

Ta!

- drain coolant

- disconnect heater hoses from heater on the bulkhead

- mop up spilt coolant  ;)

- remove dash (or at least undo it so you can get your hand behind to get at the various nuts, bolts, etc.

- remove ducting from the screen vents

- disconnect wiring

- undo bolts securing heater to scuttle

- wrestle with the heater unit, swear a lot and finally wrench it clear of the scuttle, removing copious amounts of skin from knuckles in the process ;)

Just mind the wiring loom (don't get the heater caught on it) and make sure you've disconnected everything before trying to remove it.  Learning how to be a contortionist would be a valuable skill, as would learing to cope with having your head buried on the footwells !

And don't forget to cap the various pipes / fittings in the coolant circuit before refilling it.

IMHO  wait till you've driven the car on New Years day at -5 to see if you still really want to have a car without a heater....

If you can't wait that long then I'm sure you wouldn't want a nasty heater cluttering up your garage now would you...... ;)  :D

And don't forget to cap the various pipes / fittings in the coolant circuit before refilling it.

Rather than capping these off, you may prefer to join the inlet pipe to the outlet pipe thus ensuring that you don't build up any pressure in any 'bypass' pipework.

Or don't remove it, just put a old Mini control valve on it so you can switch off the coolant flow in summer and turn it back on again in winter.
