Matt Seabrook Posted May 16, 2010 Author Posted May 16, 2010 Oh the irony of how some people like the officials deciding the result when it suits them. Quote
Richgm Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Haven't watched it again yet but IMHO the rule book should state that if the course remains under yellow flags then no overtaking. If they show green flags then it's race on. Quote
housebeautician Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 I bet mr hill was laughing his nuts off and rubbing his hands together at the same time. Got to give it to the oap, it was a good move though. Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Personally, I think Schui should have had the place, great little move and all that. I just think it's such a bitter sweet, ironic moment that the steward wielding the axe should have been Damon. Like I said earlier though, I can see a logic for not having the SC actually on the track over the finish line, but you'd have thought maybe a little more would have been done to make sure the drivers knew it was only a symbolic pulling off. Matt Seabrook Posted May 16, 2010 Author Posted May 16, 2010 Agreed a lack of communication again from the FIA still we should be used to that. Quote
Blatman Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Maybe Alonso wasn't watching because he knows the rules and knew he couldn't legitimately be overtaken. Or he knew that if the team protested, the FIA (Ferrari International Assistance) would fix it post race. So no need for him to worry about what was behind him... Audacious move by Schui (and I'm not a fan) but I do admire that never say die attitude, no matter who displays it... Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted May 16, 2010 Author Posted May 16, 2010 Alonso was sideways on the last corner so was not napping he also thought the race was on. But I bet if asked Alonso would say otherwise though Quote
Blatman Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Yeah I know. Just seeing if I can get a bite out of FW500... Quote
pistonbroke Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Yeah I know. Just seeing if I can get a bite out of FW500... Hese gone quiet . like the rest of the scummy worshipers Quote
pistonbroke 2 Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Schumesser demoted for overtaking a Fezzer What a Reversal of fortune. Well he should have known he wouldnt get away with that one. Ferrari at it again. Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted May 17, 2010 Author Posted May 17, 2010 The irony of F1 they moan that there is no overtaking and then penalizes someone that does. Quote
FW500 Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Yeah I know. Just seeing if I can get a bite out of FW500... I've got split loylties here. Schui fan and believe it or not also have a mild liking of Ferrari. On balance I'm with Matt, Schui should have had the place. As for Hill, he is and always was a pointless little man who only ever got to sit in an F1 car because of his dad IMO. Shabby ex-F1 drivers with their broken egos should not be involved in the decision process especially when they're passing judgement on drivers who consistently made them look silly in the past. Quote
peterg Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 FWIW Damon Hill didn't make the decision all on his own, despite what a lot of people think he (and Johnny Herbert and Alex Wurz etc) is there as part of a four man 'team' and is there to aid the stewards by giving the "driver's perspective" rather than as the Chairman with an overriding vote... QUOTE Schui fan and believe it or not also have a mild liking of Ferrari. Really we'd never have noticed if you hadn't said that Quote
FW500 Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Schui fan and believe it or not also have a mild liking of Ferrari. Really we'd never have noticed if you hadn't said that I don't mind admitting it - unlike most of the die-hard McLaren fans that pretend being open minded and unbiased. I'd suggest these people are as open minded and unbiased as I am. As it goes I can't think of anyone better than myself to have acted as Steward for this incident. Quote
