pants
Hello Been cleaning up my diff today. 3.62 LSD from 4x4 sierra. I also decided to empty oil out. The thing was instead of it being full of oil it was full of water. The water was clear not rusty water or oily water. Is it usual practice to fill up a diff with water? Anyway what is the recommended oil for a ford LSD? cheers Mark
Westfieldman
Does it have a breather pipe on it I vented mine up and then down so water would not fall into it. Paul.
Guest
Water?? Nice!!! Where'd you get it - joke shop? Heh, heh Good point about the breather pipe though. Definitely not standard practice since there's a lot of spinning action inside a diff which really, really needs oil.... Anyhoo, Westfield (and Ford, too) recommend SAE EP90 (i.e. standard) hypoid gear oil. Bought some on Friday for £1.99 500ml (need about 1.25l). - Dan.
