hi,     :)

anyone got any ideas how to get sillicone sealant of

bodywork , have tried water/washing up liquid,polish

and just rubbing it  does f**kall. :arse:  :arse:

Would turps or thinners wreck the grp ? :durr:

It wasn't me ,it was previous muppet owner who decided to

put over rear arches and round the sill, to prevent sidescreens

scratching body. :arse:  :arse:  :arse:  :arse:  :arse:  :arse:

could of used something other than white sealant on a

white car. :arse:  :arse:  :arse:  :arse:  :arse:  :arse:  :arse:

 please help !

cheers rob

hi rob

Had the same problem myself today, i ended up picking of slowly as it was lumpy.  I don’t know if there is anything you can get to shift it sorry, but i can ask my mate a Plummer who will know, as he fits kitchens and removes it often.

Leave it alone for a while....

it will then rub off with your finger/cloth etc...stanley knife a line where you want it to stay though

Some take longer than others etc etc ...be patient

alternative...go to a glazing company and buy `silicone remover` ...dont know how it affects fibreglass though

:D

You can get a product specifically designed to remove sealant and such from hardware shops, including B&Q. Sorry can't remember the name.

There's a product called Silicone Eater available from www.screwfix.co.uk and no doubt other places too  ;)

Danger Will Robinson ..... whatever you do don't get any THINNERS on the GRP!!

Normally, just rubbing it with your finger should make it try to 'ball' and then it should just peel off.
