Blatman
Name one engine designed in *this* century then... go on...
CedricTheBrave
1.25, 1.4 and 1.6L Duratecs were introduced this Century but whether they were designed is another matter So how many Durabangs have we witnessed going bang?
markcoopers
The beuty of the zetec is the cheap and pleantiful supply. I tend to think of the Zetec engine as a Service item, needing regular replacment to keep it in rude health.
nikpro
So how many Durabangs have we witnessed going bang? Enough to put me off buying one!

nikpro
You havent driven a quick one then I can't afford a quick one - my funds don't run to a £10,000 motor.
Guest
in all fairness Frazer a quick (220bhp +)zetec isn't that cheap ...... but the bottom end apears stronger than a duratec one
SteveD
there was a guy running a caterham years ago 2002 ish he was allways at three sisters ,dave kilkoine i think , anyway he had a solid 200 + bhp out of his zetec from memory ,i remember he run a bearing at aintree and he was out the weekend later at three sisters ,i asked him what he had to do , he informed me he swapped the head over onto a brand new bottom end from ford as all the work and power was in the head ,bottom end was peanuts from memory ...........result

Only difference of course is that I have a solid 237bhp1

John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison
Steve - I remember Dave Kilcoyne. He used to always beat you when you had a mighty VX versus his Zetec and you getting quite upset about it at the time It cant be the driver or engine - must have been the superior Caterham
Arm
Ahh but then Steve bought a Caterham and Dave still beat him !
