DAZ 4
Does anybody else get this or is it just me I am getting a "clattering" from the front that can be heard quite clearly if car is taken out of gear on a bumpy surface. I was a bit worried what the noise was at first, but checked the pads and saw that there was a lot of movement on the pads, even though the pads appear to be virtually new. Is the a solution to stop this ?? Darren
Pembroke Pat
I think the solution may be to add additional shims behind the brake pads so that they don't wiggle about.
Keith Scarfe
I used to get this on another car (my Lotus Elan). The solution: Get some small compression springs, like the ones in a biro pen - but a bit bigger. I got mine from a hardware store called Pollards. What you do is put them over the pad retaining pin. So you fit the pads into the caliper as normal then as you insert the retaining pin put the spring over it as you slide it in ( oo er! ) and between the two pads so the spring is pushing the pads slightly apart. Because it is such a weak spring it won't push the pistons back but it is enough to stop the rattling.
