James Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 I have another hobby (better not say what it is as I will get lynched!!!) BUT when I first got into it I couldnt belive the price of the items that you would need to get going second hand, they were just a few pounds below new prices! now this is great as a long term investment but to get into it to begin with cost a fortune. I wish Westi prices were more like this BUT people for one reasoon or another will always need to sell and that tends to drop the prices universely nothing anybody can do really. When I was thinking of selling my car to go to the darkside (what was I thinking ) the prices I was looking at were crazy mainly because my car is a live axel people just dont understand that they can be brilliant but becuase of ignorance the car is de-valued. ended up keeping the car partly beacuse I wasnt prepared to give it away and I didnt fit inside the tin foil cars. Matt Seabrook Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Well done Peter glad it sold for a sensible price Quote
dhutch Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Anything is only worth what someone will pay for it. Difference between "value" and "price" The question then is, what do you insure it for? Quote
Blatman Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Ring / write to your insurers and discuss. I've never had any problems insuring anything I own for an agreed value. On one or two items of mine, the current agreed value is more than I actually paid as the retail price of an equivalent new item has increased markedly over time. Insurers understand this and if you're a sensible customer keeping them advised of what you want, and more importantly, the risk you're asking them to take, they are (in may case at least) pretty accommodating...
