Old Biker Posted November 28, 2009 Author Posted November 28, 2009 She obviously doesn't understand you have to get used to it! Quote
markcoopers Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 QUOTE The Wife is getting fed up of me walking round the house making exhaust and squeeling tyre noises. A true westfield driver would run not walk. Quote
7sRWild Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 allways best to walk before you run, Then RUN like HELL... Quote
Old Biker Posted November 28, 2009 Author Posted November 28, 2009 I'm looking forward to it Mate. Leg broken in a bike accident 19 Aug (quite badly!) and still bust now. Although the 6 ribs and the collar bone are pretty much sorted now (don't recommend breaking 6 ribs in a oner)! This is the main/only reason I haven't bought a car now. Quote
cleowuss Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Hi Paul I'm building a 2008 car with lowered steel floor and race seats, at 6 footish the seat is not fully back on the runners, can't comment on foot size as i've only got size 8 feets. I have had a good look at the MNR nice car, shame about the nose styling. They have a chassis diagonal under the dash which may hinder you getting in and out. When your leg's fit it may be best to try getting and out of a few cars and blag a few rides Welcome to the mad house and hope your leg heals soon. Richard Quote
Old Biker Posted November 29, 2009 Author Posted November 29, 2009 Richard, Good luck with your build. I have chosen the direct entry method due to a combination of small garage (ex-bike shed!) and 'want, want, want' syndrome! Looked long and hard at the MNR. Turn key price for the car at Exeter was £10K although I don't know how many extras were on it? Didn't appreciate the diagonal strut in the cockpit and the nose is not the best. All in all the Westfield is a better looking car and I would prefer a Ford or a Vauxhall engine to a Mazda (The engine for this build I think?). The one thing that the MNR stand did say was that its chasis had a good residual strength. I.E. better in a crash? For the record I do not intend to crash anything! Has anybody got any thoughts on this? Quote
7sRWild Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 How big was the truck that ran over you. We should call you Bionic.. take your time healing my friend..THEN RUN LIKE HELL!!!!!! Quote
Blatman Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 I remember you comming by the stand on Saturday. (I was the little chap doing cartwheels... naked...). Corrected for factual accuracy... Quote
Old Biker Posted November 29, 2009 Author Posted November 29, 2009 Steve, It was a young lad who 'T boned' me coming out from a 'Stop' sign on an exposed country crossroad. He didn't see me apparently! Blue Honda Blackbird - main light on - bright summer early evening? Believe me, I was a long way from feeling bionic! At least I am here to talk about it. Quote
7sRWild Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Oh the joys of youth, all testosterone and no eyesight. Sounds like you have been thru hell and back. Heal well, buy the car and live life to the full. I reached the grand age of 60 this last month ands its my turn to do what the hell I like... Steve Quote
Old Biker Posted November 29, 2009 Author Posted November 29, 2009 Steve, I have often used the saying 'what don't kill you makes you stronger' and I intend to kick on from this. I too intend to reach 60 which is 13 years away for me. I will get one of these cars once I can walk without the aid of these crutches! Good luck to you doing what you want to do, if I make it and can still dress myself, I'm going to be a right pain in the A***! Quote
7sRWild Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Rock on Dude!! Love the day- Live the Day... Quote
Nomexnomad Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Steve Why Japan? (and welcome) Old biker, westy frames are strong, in a frontal impact very strong (Chapman was a clever man) Remember me from the show? Twas my car on the stand... welcome to the club.. Quote
ambo Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 I've ridden bikes too, don't think you'll miss a bike much...if at all with a Westie! Mines not that powerful but still plenty of fun and there are advantages over bikes and not many disadvantages! Quote
Old Biker Posted November 30, 2009 Author Posted November 30, 2009 Nomexnomad, Yes I did look at your car. Hope to get one that has been looked after as well as yours when the time comes. Good to hear about the strength of the frame although I do not intend needing to use it in that way! Ambo, I am hoping that the car will put a grin on my face when I get it although bikes are well and truely under my skin (just too painful at the moment!). When you say your car isn't that powerful, what engine and set up have you got? Still early days for me but I don't want to get too wrapped around the axle with power if you don't need it? I am automatically aiming at a Ford Pinto/Duratec not tuned to death so that it becomes unreliable but running normally, relying on the power to weight to make it exciting. Quote
