peterg Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 QUOTE And it's a left hooker... Why? 'cos that's probably the car they used to get Euro Approval on Quote
FW500 Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Why didn’t they just put the Astra VXR Engine in it....... stiffen up the suspension and jobs a gooden Maybe they will Quote
CedricTheBrave Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 I think they should be aplauded for taking advantage of the european market and exporting a great product. who cares whether the clocks look silly and its heavy (not mch tbh) the europeans will love them and it gives them the financial rewards they need to develop the product further. Blatman Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 I guess we like picking holes... From a PR POV, *all* the major manufacturers ads and pressers (presser = press conference or press release) have a reg number that can be reversed so that the manufacturer / ad agency can simply reverse the piccy for LHD or RHD markets. It's the simplest thing in the world. So I look at that and ask myself (and everybody here now I guess) why? The cynical among us might ask attention to detail questions. But I do that with lots of ads and press releases that I see... and I see a lot I guess I shouldn't get worked up about it, but it bugs me... Quote
housebeautician Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Nice dashboard . . . . looks good methinks Quote
jak Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 And it's a left hooker... Why? There are different cars in the photos. The top one is LHD, but the other one lower down is RHD. I suspect the RHD one is the car Barney "tested" at Curborough in June. John Quote
Mark (smokey mow) Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 It's a shame the reporter didn't give a couple more lines to explain the importance of the European Type Approval this car has and how it will enable Westfield's to be sold to european markets where presently kit car ownership is not possible due to restrictive legislation and any lack of an IVA system for ammeteur built cars. Because this wasn't explained properly and in true PH fashion the discussion comments have degenerated into the usual caterham's are better/ needs a bigger engine/ why hasn't it got carbs arguments. (but thanks juansolo and custartart for arguing our corner ) I know we complain lot's about our legislation and the SVA/ IVA processes etc but we've got it lucky. Not everybody has the privaledge of still being able to build a car in their own garage and register it on the road. I like the car, and it's good to see Westfield investing into the company and their staff's future by trying to grow their market during what is a difficult time for the motor industry. Quote
Uncle Fester Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 When I was at the Westfield Active day recently Julian did a side by side drag race with a 190 Aerorace driven by Westfield driver Jamie and I can tell you there was virtually nothing in it. This is a pretty fast car, heavy or not! What it is though, is too quiet! Not sure about the height of the sump above the ground though. Looked extremly low Quote
Edd Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 I think I see my car rotting in the background of one of the pics Quote
Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 I wouldnt buy one - but i do like it I prefer less refinement TBH - so therefore spending that sort of money on a car and then having to chuck loads of bits of it does not appeal much I also dont think the price difference is enough between the caterham and westy as mentioned in the PH roadtest - good luck to the Westfield team Quote
