Front uprights

I have a set of Cortina uprights, in the build manual it says that for cycle wings they need to be 16mm and for the other 22mm. I intend to fit cycle wings, when I measured the top ball joint mount it was 20mm (it appeared that some material had been removed already) my question is is 20mm enough to fit the cycle wings or do I need to reduce it to the 16mm in the manual (if I dont need to then saves time  :D ). Thanks in advance.

Scotty :)

Yes you do, otherwise you won't get the nut on the thread of the ball joint.

If you haven't got an angle grinder then you might want to consider hiring one..... ;)

If you ring Tiger Racing, they do cycle wing stays that use the three old 'dustcover' holes in the upright so you don't need to machine any material away (and they're much nicer looking IMHO)  :p

Dont forgat, the material has to be removed from the bottom face of the top part (i.e. on the inner face....does that make sense?! ) otherwise the tapered ball joint will still only reach the same depth!

I had mine machined properly and ensured the two faces were parallel to each other...otherwise the lock nut wont be making contact with the whole face!!

Hope you can understand gobbledegook

regards

Jon
