Matt Seabrook Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Agreed I did not want to see Renault band, but the inconsistency is a joke. £50,000,000 fine for one team cheating when no ones life was in risk is OTT, when another team get caught cheating and could have injured or killed fans drivers or marshals and get a suspended sentence is laughable. McLaren also got all points stripped which was another expense. Still I have given up on F1 playing fare. Quote
adamnreeves Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 I feel like not following this sport any more. It's all a fix. This inconsistency that the FIA are demonstrating especially when my team I support get the rough end of the deal I find intolerable. I feel so angry at the moment. Quote
Mark Stanton Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 sure doesn't seem that an equal punishment has been served I keep reading that Briatore has received a lifetime suspension ......... is this mis-used and is it being treated as a lifetime ban because suspensions can be lifted much easier than a ban and Bernie might want his buddy back in a year or two Quote
Carl Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 feel like not following this sport any more. It's all a fix. This inconsistency that the FIA are demonstrating especially when my team I support get the rough end of the deal I find intolerable. I feel so angry at the moment. I don't think it's ever been a sport (even in the old days), more a rich man's hobby. The intrigue, cheating, power games, etc all add to the F1 "show" and make it so popular. Quote
Captain Colonial Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 I keep reading that Briatore has received a lifetime suspension ......... is this mis-used and is it being treated as a lifetime ban because suspensions can be lifted much easier than a ban and Bernie might want his buddy back in a year or two Especially when Ferrari's Nigel Stepney and whatshisname from McLaren had their bans from the sport rescinded in February this year. Blatman Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Briatores ban / suspension / whatever has wider implications. The FA have a rule that anyone prevented from competing in a sport by a governing body means thay can't own a football club. Apparently Briatore owns a bit of QPR. If it sticks, even for a short time, the consequences could be far reaching for Briatore. Not that he doesn't seem to deserve it... Quote
Fat Albert Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Blats Flabio is the major share holder and owner of QPR, He also has an Italian court conviction for fraud and has yet to serve the 4 & 1/2 year sentence! And how any sports organisation can allow the same individual to negotiate on behalf of a driver (Alonso, Kovalainen, Piquet and Grosjean) while also signing the cheques from those drivers' employer is simply beyond belief. Quote
Blatman Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 I'm not a football fan so I only had an inkling... I agree with the other stuff too. BIG conflict of interests. I'll bet McLaren are annoyed on soooo many levels... Quote
Carl Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 From a completely different angle, Mad Max has "seen off" his biggest enemies. (Rona dn Flav) Who'd would have bet on that when the NOW published the Nazi orgy story last year. Quote
KerryS Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 There was a funny little cartoon in yesterday's Times; a policeman had stopped a motorist who was saying "It's a Renault, let me off" Quote
Lurksalot Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 In all honesty, I firmly believe that a lot of participants in a lot of sports will and do cheat to improve their performance if they think they will get away with it . Be it club level, national or international everyone wants an edge. Quote
KerryS Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 And has been seen, our revered politicians cheat in the sport of "government" so lots are at it to a lesser or greater extent. Quote
bhouse Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 It now looks as if Bernie's decided that some people have, perhaps, been a little unfair. See here... Quote
Lurksalot Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 So Bernie has effectively just kicked his friend and co owner off the board of QPR............ although I won't hold my breath Quote
peterg Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 Latest news... ING and Matua thingy (Spanish Insurance Co) have both pulled the plug as sponsors of renault F1 with immediate effect Quote
