Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 What they said up there ^ Only it was 45 years for me. Might get a pension some time... Quote
boblog Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Lets realy put the cat among the pidgeons. Dear Mr Bank Manager, Please can I borrow £10,000 to go and buy a car, I will then take it to a track day, write it off, realise i cannot afford to pay for it as the Insurance company wo'nt pay out because they found out I did'nt hit that horse that came out of nowhere afterall. The problem is now I think it is your fault as you should'nt have lent me the money in the first place as I cannot even afford to pay my mortgage or home insurance etc etc etc. Give me a break from the payments please so that I can go and buy a plasma TV that I cannot afford either. I do beleive it is time we all took a liitle more care of the important things in life not the cosmetics. Sorry, and yes I can take all the sh+t you want to throw at me because all of this "it is the banks fault" gets on my ti=s. I have been in debt, borrowed money and lots of it, paid it back and now have it saved and that was all my own doing, it was no one elses fault when I had jack sh+t to live on but my own, and yes I was there, sold everything I had that was not important, and realised there was a lot more to life than debt. Tommorrow I am off to see the bank manager to see if I can have a "holiday" on my interest. F++++cking NO CHANCE YOU DO'NT GET ENOUGH because all of the people we used to lend YOUR money to need a break to pay it back Guess you can say it upsets me. Quote
Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I would have loved to have a car like a Westfield when I was younger, but I waited till the mortgage was paid before I took the plunge.....It's all about priority's Quote
jeff oakley Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I did the same as you Paul, what hacks me off is people who tell me how "lucky" I am. Having worked hard for the last 35 years with my first morgate going up to 15% before we moved in. You are spot on about priorities to some it is finacial security to others it is about living for the day. It is up to others to decide which is the right way but my way suited our family. Quote
mark.anson Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Just Rang the Building Society to arrange a mortgage payment holiday (rang a couple of months ago and they said that i could not apply till Aug) Last time i spoke to them it was ok for 100% holiday for 12 months..... Guess what the f*****s have moved the goal posts now they will generously let me have 3 months holiday at a reduction of 25% (that’s not paying 25% of the total, no thats a reduction of 25% so paying 75% for a whole 12 months!!!). Am i wrong or did we not all bail out the bank/building societies about 12 months ago to help the economy f**king t**t faced b*****ds... Any chance you could lend me a fiver?? Quote
Norman Verona Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Not being judgemental but the point of the post was that he had been promised a holiday but then was denied. Quote
Jackv4 Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 i totaly agree with this about all those to**ers who borrow money knowing they will never afford to pay it back or want to afford to somone i know that lives very close to me just had there house reposesed and what fcks me of is he comes home from the pub pis*ed on a thu/fri and sat(not just nights but also sat afternoons) and has a £16,000 car that sits at the bl**dy door and yes hes still doing the same job hes always done for the last 10years thats what makes me mad, if it wasnt for people like him morgages rates wouldnt be neer what theyve been over the years i also realise this is part of the reason i and others only get the 0.5% or whatever on were savings, if it wasnt for people like myself that does pay there morgage there would be no money to pay interest on savings rant over edit to say that i do feel for those of us that sadly end up unemployed or through any other reason that is unavoidable and the bank isnt willing to help out for a short period of time in a case like this, Quote
Jackv4 Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Any chance you could lend me a fiver?? what interest rate was you thinking Quote
pistonbroke Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I'm with them two above as well, I need at least 10% interest on my savings so I can retire next year, so lets make the ******' borrowers pay take a look at the bank interest rates on loans / overdrafts / credit cards etc. and ask where all the masula goes to I note some banks now offer as much as 3pc pa on some savings a/c's (conditional) The same banks charge around 37pc APR Quote
tcc21racing Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 ha just spoke to my w anker banker mate to day, he is being forced and paid to go watch the Singapore F1 VIP treatment the full works, he is such a anker + thats only his second best jolly of the year so far!! Quote
Jackv4 Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I note some banks now offer as much as 3pc pa on i opened a savings account with my bank(bos/halifax) which pays 3% which i beleave is tax free but you can only have up to £3600 and a max of 3 withdraws in a year, pretty crap in my opinion but its somthing Quote

Norman Verona Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 I'm getting 4% in the Euro zone. Problem is that the exchange rate is so bad I won't bring more over. Quote
boblog Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Well I have invested in the banks in quite a big way when the share price collapsed and it has worked VERY well (so far) but once again if it goes wrong it is only me to blame I have doubled my investment since March but it has ben a scary ride at times but SHOULD now get better. It is amazing how many people are trying different things to actually get a return on their money. The last bond I had finished Sep2008 and paid 6.5%, when it was like that you never bothered looking for anything else but at 2 and 3% you have to. Quote
Bananaman Posted August 26, 2009 Author Posted August 26, 2009 Not being judgemental but the point of the post was that he had been promised a holiday but then was denied. Thanks Norm, I understand that banks have been far to lax in there lending. When speaking to the girl on the phone the other day she said people were taking payment holidays so that the could go on holiday or pay there CC bills!!! However i don't have any CC bills or other loans i have always paid my mortgage on time and have a genuine issue due to a down turn in business which has been going on for 12-18 moths in my industry and i have managed to keep payments going so far but just wanted a bit of breathing space. Seems like the Banks have swung from one extreme to another in there lending policies! I know my Ex business partner had a HUGE mortgage from Northern Rock, several loans and a car on lease along with more than 1 CC........... He's a dick but should never have been allowed to get into soooo much debt (he's now Bankrupt).. It's typical that the sensible ones amongst us end up suffering due to the recklessness on the banks and other individuals! I'll be OK with my finances as i have actually made over payments on my Mortgage that i can claim back, it's just they way i feel that i have been treated due to the Banks incompetence!!!!!!!!! Worst thing is i'm gonna have to sell the Westfield.... But hey-ho it was like a savings plan that i'm gonna cash in (the interest rate was s**t but the fun rate was 100%).... Don't worry though i have another savings plan in the garage! Quote
