Theoretically, I think the points / medal system will certainly make it less complicated to manipulate the outcome , if anyone were to decide that it was necessary to interefere of course

which of course doesn't and wouldn't happen      :bangshead:

FIA = Ferrari International Assistance.

And just when it looked like it was going to get interesting.

Come on Prawn GP!!

Head. Bang. Wall.

I think Eccelstone and Mosley are single handedly ruining the sport, first off limiting engine size, going back to V8s and limiting technological growth in engines, and then saying rumouring that the paddock will go to one standard engine.

Then getting rid of all the aero which is stupid.

And now this stupid new winner takes all system.  It is silly, the tactics and the drama of last season could never have happened under this new system.  You go from one of the best seasons in living memory and then change it all, yeh wise idea!

I am a avid fan of F1 I have been countless times to British GP and others but quite frankly, this is now just going to get boring.  F1 is all about the best technology on the best set up cars by the best engineers, driven by the best drivers.

With all these new regs, it is diluting the sport into some mass market sport which any Tom, Dick or Harry can understand in between the football.  F1 is a engineering masterpiece, not a pawn in a greater game with billions of media dollars, Bernie.

Bernie is going to make his nest egg, then b****r off, leaving F1 in tatters, the teams discontent and the whole sport in dis-array.  Much like Sir Fred Godwin and RBS...

The whole thing is farcical.

i wonder how many overtaking accidents will happen to stop the win :suspect:

if one driver has more wins but less points and another in front has more points but one less win oh woops sorry   i was going for the win honest

As a motorcycle road racer in the 80's / 90's and upto 2003 I won three British titles yet in 2003 I won the Brtish tittle but only won 7 races of the 22 race season, most of my points came from 2nd / 3rd or safe top 5 finishes..........

Several racers are / were win or crash riders and I took advantage of their youth and in experience and sat and waited and picked up steady points. Still won 69 races outright in total over the period I raced.

Points build up is vital in any championship, for example if I had a mechanical issue {ie slipping clutch, cooked tyres} but could limp home in 4th or 5th I would risk it, under the new system whats to stop all cars pulling out at 3/4 distance {maybe except for the top three runners} and parking up to save the engines ? ? ?

Interesting point there, I wonder if ther powers that be have thought of that? no matter how quickly the top two or three are going, it would be a rather boring race if everybody else dropped out at half or threequarters distance.

Against that, big business sponsorship is so important to F1 now, how would the sponsors party feel if their car pulled out, however remote a chance of winning it might have?

Dont forget that as far as the finance is concerned, F1 is big business first and foremost, make that VERY BIG business.

With engine and gearboxes having to last longer and longer I can see very empty grids from 4th place back if this continues. Also if someone gets to 9 wins in a season will they just stop fielding a car as there will be very little point in going on?

no, because the Constructor's Championship will still be decided on the points total for bopth drivers of the team  :t-up:  ;)

so it this going to work on who crosses the line first or who the officials decide wins the race a few hours after

They are also taking of a £30m budget limit, with teams that still to the budget getting technical advantages and the teams that spend more having more restriction....can see a lot of work being out sourced, and junior teams being used for test and development before they get put on the big teams.

Anyone else think that brawn are running light and revving over the 18k limit in testing ???

No, it'll be the red car that wins whatever the on track result...  :bangshead:

Nope. I think they may be light and they are definitely exploiting the loophole regarding the diffuser which is giving them an advantage. I expect a few objections at the first race as Uncle Max has said that even though the FIA have deemed it legal, the stewards at the race may see things differently.

Depends who pays most? ???

I can only think that this will stop team orders for the early part of the season, after that it will be an empty race after about 30 - 40 laps as has been said earlier.

I have also won two rally Championships on points basis constanly being told by the "team" how much they are worth.(Also had the wins too)

Why did'nt they try the "drop score" rule as in some other motorsport?

Makes no difference what we think, we are only the "fans"

Blimey!! How many of you lot complained there was no exitment and overtaking last year.

Now under this new rule there is potentially very little benefit in finishing 2nd/3rd, etc so we may see some real racing and risk taking to the flag. (instead of the cruise to points after the last pit stop)

My prediction is it'll make it a more exiting season.

You're not wrong, but for how many laps, drivers driving for the last few points drive their socks off as they have something to aim to for, they will not risk this for the constructors I do'nt think, so will just fall by the wayside and save money.

Tough call, we'll all have to wait and see.
