westy Posted September 12, 2002 Posted September 12, 2002 I swear the past week or so downloading pages on the boardroom has slowed down. Are we maxing out on our available bandwidth with the ISP Quote
chazpowerslide Posted September 12, 2002 Posted September 12, 2002 Lost the last Message I sent you Westy, twice!!!! I pressed "send message" the screen changed as per normal then............nothing!!!!!! I logged off and re-posted in the end. Quote
Phssthpok Posted September 12, 2002 Posted September 12, 2002 I'm on NTL broadband and the site is now loading like my old 56k modem. Quote
Blatman Posted September 12, 2002 Posted September 12, 2002 Yup. bl**** slow on my Broadband too............ Last time we had a problem though, it wasn't the Boardroom server, it was the ISP, who were suffering packet loss. I reckon there is a fault with the ISP again. On my dial up connection, it's behaving like packet loss, but on broadband, and my "pipe" connection, it's just slooooooooowwwwww. I'd be surprised if it was a bandwidth problem. Quote
westy Posted September 12, 2002 Author Posted September 12, 2002 severe packet loss would result in us getting page unable to be displayed on this occasion I think it is just plain slow. More likely to be the server that is hosting the boardroom software is slow. Someone pop to B&Q and pick up a bag of coal for the server. Out of interest what is everyones ping on the address: wscc.co.uk go to command prompt and type: ping wscc.co.uk I am getting 119 ms, though a games server I use I get a 34ms Quote
AshJackson Posted September 12, 2002 Posted September 12, 2002 The boardroom runs from wscc.ggr.net if I ping that from my work connection I get: --- wscc.ggr.net ping statistics --- 47 packets transmitted, 42 received, 10% loss, time 46413ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 39.686/85.088/886.708/139.135 ms --- www.wscc.co.uk ping statistics --- 49 packets transmitted, 48 received, 2% loss, time 52594ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 49.456/91.933/332.356/69.756 ms It certainly feels slower than it once was. Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO Posted September 12, 2002 Posted September 12, 2002 Yep, its dog slow here in sunny Manchester, but never mind the westy's in the car park outside and its nearly home time Quote

westy Posted September 12, 2002 Author Posted September 12, 2002 hey its back to its normal self Quote
Stuart Posted September 12, 2002 Posted September 12, 2002 No it isn't. It's still very slow on my 56k. Quote
westy Posted September 12, 2002 Author Posted September 12, 2002 oh Broadband is the way forward, are you not in an area for it? Quote
damianc Posted September 12, 2002 Posted September 12, 2002 I'm guessing most of the site is hosted on wscc.ggr.net which (AFAIK) is a different machine to www.wscc.co.uk. Additionally, if the problem lies with Apache, then ping may not show up problems. At a wild guess the site is database backended and the problem lies here. Again, no doubt ACW has the answers, and certainly the tools to enlighten us (don't even think about misreading that last sentence) Quote
