RS WST Posted March 3, 2009 Author Posted March 3, 2009 Sorting out the moulds to be made today Will keep you posted
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Do they attach to the bonnet or to the filter back plate? The 2 shown in post 1 look to attach in different ways. What type of filter is included? A sausage type for all cylinders or a single one within the box?
RS WST Posted March 3, 2009 Author Posted March 3, 2009 Air box attaches to backplate which is attached to the bodies Air filter will be a flat panel element mounted inside the airbox on a ledge
stu999 Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 As for mould quality there alot better than the original types shown above with no ripples or dips My version 2 of the above must have had 20 hours on making it smooth They would be even better still if they had a full radiused entry like mine...

Pics please I doubt if a 6" hole is going to suffer from lack of flow from a 2.0l nasp motor All adding a bellmouth to the existing design will do is reduce the inlet size reducing the ram effect IMO but the only true way to tell would be to dyno them both back to back
Boney Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Owdo tis true the build quality of my SDB one has no dips or bumps, outstanding quality. Did not want to say at the time but as Stu has said something Boney
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Looks like a giant U bend
kynather Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 These look great and very well made. The price however is staggering and I'm sure are out of a lot of peoples budget, (like mine) especially in todays climate. As i dont mind a little work, I've just got one of ebay for £38 delivered and they have more!! I must say that they are not the quality shown here, just saying so those on a limited budget have an option. EBAY Item number: 130289286088
sport 2000 Dan Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 OK, to be honest, i dont want one of these air boxes but i have just searched the part quoted above and unless you have a rigid roof fitted to your westy and the air intake comes from the cabin you may aswell blow your own breath into the intake, I guess the products offered are custom made for the base plates of whatever throttlebody/carb setup, they maybe a little expensive, depends what your comparing them to.....
kynather Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 look as i have said the one's here are superb and well worth the money! I have not and never would knock anyone for anything they do. The one i quoted is much cheaper not only in price but in build quality as well, and is in a different league to the one on offer here, but with work is a good solution if you dont have the money to even consider the £200 price tag. I thought this forum was about helping each other out! I have worked on Boney's car (the yellow one above) and know the set up well and have one of the above cheapies and the adaption would not take much work. together with the fact that as we have one off car's someone may want to use these other than on there throttlebodies or carbs ie Air intake for turbo (no backing plate needeed) etc.
sport 2000 Dan Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Sorry mate, no putting down intended and we are all here to help each other, i just looked at the link and thought that they would need some work to fit (i have no idea how much, you obviously do..) and the ones advertised fit straight on i guess so anyone with no mechanical idea may want to go for the easy option, and anyone with some ability may want to go for the E-bay option, either way....
RS WST Posted March 5, 2009 Author Posted March 5, 2009 Well thats just blown my idea out of the water completely I've just committed to have the moulds made this afternoon at a cost of 100's of pounds
