david.c Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Want santa to bring me a new PC driving game for xmas. I currently have an old Colin McRae rally game that I love, but I kind of know all the stages by heart. Can anyone recommend a good one as there is so many to choose from. Cheers David Quote
Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 some great games out there ...Grid is good ...depends upon what spec pc you have? Like you say there are loads Quote
david.c Posted November 21, 2008 Author Posted November 21, 2008 PC is Dell Inspiron 2.6 Gig AMD Dual Core with 2Gig RAM & NVIDIA GeForce 8300GS Graphics Card running Vista home premium. Quote
AidanPlace Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 2nd recommendation for Grid. Class game Aidan Quote
Pilot Pete Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 GTR, can get it for a pittance nowadays and its awsome, definitly need a steering wheel for it though if you dont have one already. I played on donnington on GTR and then drove the westfield round there and can say its spot on!!! Quote
david.c Posted November 21, 2008 Author Posted November 21, 2008 GRID looks popular I use a gamepad controller. We did try a (cheap) steering wheel but it was pants massive dead area in the middle and full lock at each end Cheers David Quote
combatsapph Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 GRID is gonna be a bit rubbish on that spec machine though. If you want a realistic game, I've had many hours of fun with rFactor and it's easy on the specs as well (not that I care with qaud core 4ghz, 4gb, crossfired 4870's ) Quote
Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Grid should run ok m8 on your machine ... you wont be able to have everything on max but should be more than ok I would have thought ... Download the demo first to test !!! Quote
Guest Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Try Richard Burns Rally... it's much more realistic that CMcrae and will take ages to master... other than that i like GTR2 for track action. Edited to add... get yourself a steering wheel. Logitec G25 is the best but not cheap! Quote
Darren B Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Live for speed is a very good game, but you will need a steering wheel to get the best out of it (in fact any driving game is much better with a wheel). LFS also has Lotus 7s in it as well as a host of others. Live for Speed Other ones in my rack are GTL and GTR 1 or 2. I have a Momo Force Feedback Wheel for sale if you're interested. Drop me a PM if you are. Quote
DanB Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 rFactor . You'll need a steering wheel, but rFactor, the Caterham mod and the RealFeel plugin are a very good combination. And it's very easy to set up an online server if you fancy racing some friends. Quote
Richgm Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 If you want a Sim then rFactor, GTR2, GT Legends, RB Rally are all good. Can't comment on Grid but the last of the Race Driver series i played (Number 3 IIRC) I thought was Rubbish. For a bit of fun then I'm playing Test-drive Unlimited at the moment. Just tearing round a Hawaiian island in a number of exotic super cars. Getting a wheel is a must. The best is a Logitec G25 which isn't cheap but like most things the more you pay the better the goods. Rich. PS. The likes of rfactor have a massive on line community and an abundance of free add-on tracks and cars to suit nearly every petrolheads taste. Quote
cashy Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 race driver grid, its awesome on ps3, especially the online section. Very realistic handling. Or colin mcrae dirt...... Quote
