quarter to ten last night I was sitting at home watching the news.  My wife Mary heard a scuffling sound outside, looked out the window to see our 17 year old son being beaten up in our driveway by a gang of about 15 youths, chavs or whatever else you want to call them  .

I rushed outside and pulled one off him and him off one of them (he was getting the beter of him).  Mary was screaming with real fear-panick.  We mangaed to get our son into the house and to call the police.  Meanwhile the youths came back and started smashing up my car (not my westy, thank god).  I went back outside only to be set upon, but managed to hold my own and the cowards backed off.

This was early evening, my son had spent the day in york with his friends, he was initailly attacked when getting off the bus home in Pocklington, supposedly a nice market town :( .

It took the police over 30 minutes to attend.  Meanwhile, someone could have been seriously hurt, which luckily they weren't, but Mary is now a nervous wreck.  My son is Ok and is taking it in his stride as 17 year olds tend to do.

I'm just very very angry    and want to get it out in some way.  The police think they know the youths involved, but I doubt they will get any more than a slap on the wrist.  Mary and my son on the other hand will have to think twice about leaving the house in future.

Great society we live in isn't it.  Reducing levels of violent crime etc, etc.

Sorry to go on on our forum, but I'm sitting here and can't get out of my mind, so I'm hoping this helps.

Jeff

Agreed, its the very reason I keep a 6cell Maglite by the back door, one upstairs, one in the van between the seats and one in the car in the glove box....

Hi Jeff

Our son was attacked years ago he was about 17ish. He got beaten with scaffold pole by a load of yobs, we knew who did it and thought it right to go down the right path and take them to court. It ended up in Crown court and got thrown out due to lack of evidence. I so much wish I had gone the other way and sorted it myself or got someone else to do for me, at the time people were queuing up it to help us... it angered us just the same way as you feel. Good luck to the family

sadly from idiots who seem obsessed by the concept of respect, but have no idea what it actually is.

Am with SteveD with this one, sod using the arm of the law as these days they are next to useless!

Apparantly this violent behaviour is becoming a "game" for the chavs where they get more points the more damage they do to a person.

Disgusting, the only way to end it is sort them properly but then where does it end!
