New driving licence

I would have said that the main problem is getting the weights to work, once you 'lose' the plate he issue becomes the unladen weight of the car being more than 3 times the unladen weight of the trailer and then being able to get a load on it as well.  Irrespective of your view on breaking the law the govenrment have just about covered all the angles by making it quite difficult to get anything on the trailer, even if you can tow it.

The penalty for not having the correct licence for the vehicle is code PL40 Drawing an unauthorised trailer carrying 3-6 penalty points and you maybe disqualified. There is also a fine but I am not sure of the level 1 -5 which goes from £200 to £5000.  Remember that you would have to tell your insurance of your conviction and live with the consequences of any decision you may have taken.  Its easier to pay the £100 or so and pass the test, however simple it is.

Also if the plod find you guilty of perverting the course of justice by removing the plate in order to attempt to circumvent the law then you could end up in jail irrespective of whether your combination was over 3.5tonnes mgw.

Thank goodness I'm old enough not to have to pass another poxy driving test.
