dilema time :bangshead:  :bangshead:  what am i gonna run the boy in this year  :bangshead:  :bangshead:

noticed today was no tkms there so if i go ahead and buy this junior tkm he can only race at Warden Law...

he told me tonight hes happy in the wf and said if he can keep doing the races like today he would rather keep the kart he has.   ???

Ive got no problem with him in either and I think he has the pace in his wf and I reckon in warmer weather when he can get tyre temperature quicker  he would do better in the races as he lost all his places in the first 2 laps when he struggled for grip against the heavier prokarts  that imo defy logic on how they grip out the box so well, I lost 2 places each race in lap 1 also  :arse:  :arse:

the only other option would be minimax which is then possible at both circuits but should I be fearing the reliability and running costs of something like that  :(  :(

thoughts gents  :bangshead:  :bangshead:

other prob with tkm Pete is Ryan has to share the kart with him as financially It would be hard this year buying a cadet and tkm then running and entering 2 karts every week and entering all 3 of us in races ..

Another option would be to weight him to Junior Wf weight and let him do the tinside races with us, If we can get Mark , Bob , me  and newbie Rob to do it would be a good turn out, If we didnt object to him racing with us I dont think David would have a problem, he said the reason he couldnt allow him is other drivers would kick up a stink, but as wf and Prokarts are seperate and its nearly all us lot we could set it to a majority vote and get him allowed    Failing that If he finished ahead of us  and beat us fair and square we could give him the place pot, I gave him mine today as in my eyes he beat me anyway    :D:t-up:  :t-up:

holy fooookin cow, ive gone 5 pages into that and my heads in bits allready  :0  :0  :0

everything on my kart appears to be wong  :arse:  :arse:

recomended tyre pressures 9-10 , I had mine at 20 and the boys at 25  and I had the boy with the rear bar in and full adjusted  :suspect:  :suspect:

we really need to go testing and record results

i typed you a long reply and it gone ..... b****r ....

you need to decide how commited you want to be , he needs to race in msa events to see how he compares and you need to decide a budget ......

tkm will be cheaper

junior max is alot of cash to not be down the back of the field even at msa club level ..... got to an msa meeting with open eyes and a stopwatch ,ad look at whats going on a get some times .... then find him a test in a tkm outfit .

reliability for rotax or tkm isn't bad these days really .

oh and we pointed you at the arrow setupguide long ago .... its even better if like me you run an arrow chassis but the basics do work , but you should test and record everything you do .

you correct Iain he wont run 3 of them on his own ... he'd have even less hair .

junior max budget for the 8 round super 1 series (british champs) 50 to 75k .

thats why when little jonny moves into single seaters its not much more (if not less in some cases)

i recon a club level max season is 10k ..... if you include buying kit .... which you'll find after year 1 you'll want another chassis if hes up the front in year 2

Yer, I know but how do you tell Jeff that gently.

Some of my sons cadet mates moved upto minimax and their dads are doing all the work, but when you add up what DAD is spending on his little Jonny, it's frightening :0

New kart got to be £3.5k, trailer, spares etc.. another £1.5k. Then there's the tyres, a new set every race meeting so that would be £300.00 a month, entry and practice fees £200.00 a month. Then the kid grows, race suit helmet b****y nightmare, thats the minimum it would cost if you want to be in the hunt. Engines, do my head in I hear of so many stories about this minimax engine @ 29bhp or whatever.

Also, the money that is thrown at these cadets is amazing, where does it all come from ??? What type of tree is that then

If the "boy" preduced regular performances like todays  he would need not to "worry" too much about budget. He has "mates" close by that are willing to help push him along!!!

Some crappy footage from the day, a bit gutted about that. :(
