sorry was busy last night so didn't answer .... btw amazed at the weight of your  kart being so low as a tonykart with lots of magnisium on it weighs in at around 80kgs in rotax max trim and i always thought 80 odd kgs was right , i would expect a 4stroke engine to be heavier.

ok hands on the wheel ...... you may have discovered no springs or damper on your kart .... so !! all the suspention work is done buy the twisting forces of the chassis , in the summer on fresh rubber a kart chassis through a long corner will wind itsself up like a spring and then release energy as it straightens up in massive grip situations this will lift the unweighted 2 wheels in a dramatic fashion. Obviously this is bad so we adjust chassis stifness with the various bars in the chassis , length of hubs  bumper tension adding extra seat stays etc etc .

This looses to much grip , also there are ride hieghts which make huge differences and then the more usual caster and camber .

The holding the wheel bit comes from actually realising how much your body weight affects the chassis (obviously) and if you watch you will see the guys holding the wheel low and when they turn in they don't just turn but will push on the wheel to physically push the front end into the tarmac to gain front end bite.

Ther is something alot of racers have which is a more angled steering boss which enables you to not have to place your hands quite so low to get the effect (or get more effect if you do.)

Again as i said to pete earlier in the thread ,all this is why there is an optimum seat position which is critical , and as much as a 10mm move of a seat has a huge effect.

As for lap times , don't forget they will be with an optimum setup , fresh rubber (forget times on tyres over 90 laps old) and with a huge amount of practice .

You need to be sooth and understand you weight and how it changes a chassis , you'll get there and if right now your 2 seconds off then that aint bad .... 3 or 4 starting out still isn't a crime , but its a whole different driving style to getting a 7 round a track quick

and thats where alot get frustrated .....

We initally fitted the seat so we could operate the pedals. It still felt a bit of a stretch to get full throttle, so adjusted the acceletator peddle back a bit at the circuit... Not sure how much adjustability there is at the peddle end, but from what your saying, the seat should be a set position, and adjust the wheel, and peddles to suit?

Next set of pics I put up, we'll all have our hands in the twenty-five to seven position!  ;)  ;)  :D  :D

...or should that be twenty-five past six!

JC needs to raise his seat, it's so low it's acting as a brake. Sure is going to get a warm  :arse:   on one of his hot laps!  :D
