carpetstu
The dipstick and the oil filler cap are fairly cheap parts from Ford, and the genuine items are guaranteed to seal!
Westford
Yep Stu you are right, but which dipstick assy do I need? I was at a Ford dealer the other day and the man said that there are many types of dipstick for the 2.0 Zetec engine.....which one do I need? tex
depends on which engine variant you have look at the block number near gearbox flange the last three letters tells you the type 2.0 Litre Engines (1988cc - Phase 1 & 2) Code - NGA Standard Power - 132 PS @ 6000 Standard Torque - 180 Nm @ 4000 Vehicle - Mondeo 2.0 (To 05/98) 2.0 Litre Engines (1989cc - Phase 3) Code - NGB, NGC Standard Power - 130 PS @ 6000 Standard Torque - 180 Nm @ 4000 Vehicle - Mondeo 2.0 (05/98 On) Code - EBBC, EBBD, EDBA, EDBB Standard Power - 125 PS @ 6000 Standard Torque - 180 Nm @ 4000 Vehicle - Cougar 2.0 Code - EDDA, To EDDG Standard Power - 135 PS @ 6000 Standard Torque - 180 Nm @ 4000 Vehicle - Focus 2.
Steve20
Best bet is to talk to the factory on dip sticks as the standard 2.0 litre Ford offering is roughly in the centre of the engine and fouls on Westfield's exhaust manifold. To overcome this they can supply you with one, tube and spacer that locates close to the front of the engine. Also depends on the sump you have used. Westford
Many thanks for the replies, My engine is a June 1995 2.0 so is a phase 1 or 2 (engine No NGA SY#####). The manifold has 1 3/4" primaries and I have a Raceline sump. I know that I will have to remove some length off the end in order that it will go fully home but didn't realise that the dipstick tube may foul with the exhaust manifold...........it's good to ask questions! carpetstu
My dipstick didn't require shortening on the black top. I used the original ford fit dipstick and turned it slightly to miss the manifold and then just made up a small extension to the bracket so it screwed to the mounting on the manifold.
